Syrian Pres. Assad: Erdogan is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood
KOM News ^ | 11 March 2017 | none stated

Posted on 03/11/2017 9:40:14 AM PST by Texas Fossil

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has told Chinese broadcaster Phoenix that Turkish President Erdogan is still supporting the Islamic State (IS) group and himself is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood organisation, adding, "the whole world knows that Erdogan logistically and financially supported ISIS and al-Nusra in Syria."

The Syrian President also said that his government did not consent to US army presence in the northern Syrian town of Manbij as Washington increases military presence in the country.

Speaking to China's Phoenix TV channel, the Syrian president also said that Russia was the only force sincerely fighting against the Islamic State (IS) group in his country.

The US army has positioned its soldiers in the north of Manbij in coordination with the Manbij Military Council, the Kurdish-Arabic coalition that liberated the town from IS last year.

A video emerged this week showing a US armoured convoy driving through the town amid Turkish threats of an assault on the town it claims is controlled by "YPG terrorists".

Assad told the Chinese broadcaster that his army's next target was the liberation of the Islamic State's de facto capital of Raqqa and that he hoped the conflict in Syria would end in 2017.

Yes, you're right. This is Assad making the statement?

Is he right? Is Erdogan the Islamist also a member of the Muslim Brotherhood?

I'd say it is likely. Judging by his past associations only.

It is clear that Erdogan's aim in Syria is NOT to Kill ISIS, But to Kill Kurds. Headshake.

Why do we have troops in a sovereign country without their request? That is a blatant violation of international law. Ge out troop OUT of there until they are legally invited. NO MORE IRAQs!!!

I believe the phrase “You break it, you own it” is operative here.

Not all Kurds are Communist KPP. And sadly, the Turks would like to see *all* Kurds eliminated.

Since the Kurds backed US Forces in the recent conflict in Iraq, we are returning to try and protect some parts of Kurdish held territory.

If you want to blame anyone - blame the damn Brits in their double-dealing after WWI and the fall of the Ottoman Empire. The French also share some of the blame as well.

Erdogan lost a big friend in Obama.

I'm not so sure. Yes, Erdo and Bam were best Muslim buds. And, their policies in Syria have clashed. But, they both want Islam to spread and thrive. The falling out may be more over egos and tactics.

Erdogan sees himself as the Sunni caliph, right now, and wants to expand Turkey into some of the former Ottoman provinces. Obama may have a grander vision of himself as some sort of Mahdi--he's bringing Islam to the US, to Europe, and Syria is the means.

I totally support Assad!! He is the elected leader of the sovereign nation of Syria!! He has never done a damned thing to us!! NEVER!!! He did not”gas his own people”. That was a fabricated lie!! They now have proof that it was the McCain backed Isis elements in Syria that gassed the folks in northern Syria. Let’s actually respect national sovereignty of others are we may all be speaking Chinese under the doctrine of unprovoked preemption!!. Who the hell is advising Trump on this?I strongly recommend a legal opinion!!

You are correct. I should have stated that differently. Erdogan lost the USA when his pal Obama was defeated and Trump was elected President. I am sure they are still the best of friends.

If Assad has the brain Saddam didn’t have we can work with him. Kurds are in Turkey but they’re also in Syria. Give them a homeland. We would be better friends than the Russians. Let’s not forget Iran with their own Kurdis problem.

I have no personal opinion about Assad, in part because there is no verifiable information about what is happening there. Regardless, Syria is a sovereign country and who they have as a leader is none of anyone else’s business. They have a sovereign right to align with whoever they wish (eg. Russia). The ME color revolutions have been an unmitigated disaster for those countries and for us. Our intention now would appear to be to reverse the progress Syria/Russia has made against the jihadis?? This will possibly be confirmed if we take territory from ISIS (whoever they really are) and hand it over to “Syrian rebels” (whoever they are)

Agree.

Best outcome would be for Turk voters to vote against the Referendum. Then we might be rid of both of them.

It’s not an invasion, it’s an augmentation. Marines can be deployed without congressional approval for no longer than 60 days as long as Congress is notified of the deployment.
