Everybody spies on everybody else, but not getting caught remains a key part of the job. The prosecutor would be within his rights to investigate and prosecute anyone who doesn’t possess official diplomatic immunity. Consulates and embassies are not “foreign soil” and crimes committed are ultimately under the jurisdiction of local authorities. So it’s time to start burning paper and cooking hard drives over big magnets (and loudly pointing out that anything they ultimately find was done at Obama’s direction).
