There is no doubt about that.

He would’ve been the real target, but getting a warrant to wiretap a U.S. citizen directly requires as you mention probably cause. But a wiretap aimed at a foreigner has a much lower standard, depending on where the wiretap is actually to take place. So my suspicion is that if there was a warrant or even if not, the “targets” were actually Russian citizens attempting to intervene in the election via the Trump campaign, and that in order to do so, they had to listen in on the Trump campaign.

As long as an American citizen is involved in the surveillance, which is a search, the fourth amendment is triggered and constitutional probable cause is required. If the courts have come up otherwise, I believe they, as usual, are coming up with unconstitutional rulings.

It’s hard to tell not being directly involved, but there are certainly aspects of this that many do not believe to be constitutional. From what I can tell, if data about a U.S. citizen inadvertently shows up on a unwarranted (no probable cause) wiretap, there are procedures by which the government is supposed to “minimize” that data, i.e. segregate, delete, forget. In my opinion, the real crime here is not the wiretap, but the dissemination of the data, and it seems to go straight to the top given Obama’s Executive Order about sharing data among intelligence agencies in the waning days of his term.

Yeah those are back-end security issues I know nothing about legally.

Guess I’m focused on the front-end probable cause issues. If there’s proof of probable cause or lack of minimizing/shutting down surveillance of Trump or other U.S. citizens, then I think we have illegality.

If they can get past all of that, then maybe an illegal security breach.

Can’t you smell the corruption and really, treason? I’m in AZ and I can smell it all the way out here. You know that there was illegality. You just have to find it. Knowing Trump, he will. The guy is a bull dog. God bless him.

The mediots are going totally crazy with their anti Trump bs.

Most of their stuff is junk/fake news.

Every once in a while, like with these 2 Ny Slimes front pages, they really harm their story lines.

In 4 years, Trump and we will have destoyed any credibility the left wing mediots might have had. They will help us to destroy them.

The Clintons relied heavily on illicit FBI and IRS operations back in the 90’s to destroy their domestic enemies. Everyone knew it, the NYT reported it and they skated completely free. Why wouldn’t the bitch go back to their MO? Barry knows a good thing when he sees it and used these agencies as well.

It was bad enough 20 years ago but with the tech advances now it much worse than Orwell’s most feverish nightmare.

YEs, I agree with you, but I’m saying they bugged the Trump campaign to get info on their campaign, NOT for the collusion with the Russians.

Will be interesting to see how they worded the FISA request.

“I absolutely believe what President Trump is accusing Zero of and much much more. Who would doubt that Zero, Hitlery, Jarrett, Lynch, et al. were wiretapping Trump or anyone else for that matter?”

No doubters here.
