Hai, snow changing to rain. Thursday I have to head out to Denver and sit for flights. Fun though.

When my son was in Cub I took him and all the Cubbies in the Pack, not just in a Den, to MARS (the Boys at first thought we were going to the PLANET Mars, lol). Took them all to a Military Auxiliary Radio Station.

Yes, Vietnam was still on and the MARS were still still doing Radio/Phone patches. The boys all learned about the use of AM HF High frequency and why it was still important. The MARS even has a Morse-Code demo for the boys.

I herd a lot from the Boys school teachers talking about the boys confusing and then entertaining them all with their Tip to MARS.

Yep. I played leader of one sort or another for 13 years. My Dad had done it with me.

My boys really gained from the experience. They both also were “on staff” as young adult leaders at summer camp up to their college ages.

son earned his Eagle with 3 Palms, the Hornady Conservation BRONZ, worked 4 years at D-Bar-A Scout Camp every summer while he was in college.

Sound just like my oldest. If you go back to the national BSA film in the late 90s and listen to the intro in the middle section about recruiting adult leaders where a young adult leader Scout talks, “my Dad...” — that is my son.

Found out that the fire is in
Amarillo
....and the wind is blowing the smoke down here.
Praying that they have it out soon,
and that no one is injured!

Amen. Thank you. They are far north of us, but with the lack of rain we’ve had, they can break out anywhere and it doesn’t take much wind...and we have lots of it!...to really have them spread over large areas.

I read last night that there’s a huge one somewhere near Lubbock, and have seen news reports on TV about several large fires in other states. This year is NOT starting off well. :-(
