that’s going to leave a mark on any democrats who may have had the now questionable foresight to buy land spanning the right of way... to the “high speed rail to nowhere”... hopefully the bullet train will now become the bullshyt train... cow patties, anyone?

Looks like their operations budget is $150 million a year:

http://www.caltrain.com/Page4451.aspx

So exactly what are the savings to go electric and how much is saved every year...and how many decades would it take to break even with a $600 million cost to convert?

Why doesn’t Google step in and offer help? They’re building driverless cars and crap. Can’t they offer the state and design a whole new transportation system?

The liberals have an unending fetish with exorbitant train projects that nobody wants.

“electrification as a way both to increase ridership and save money on operating costs.”

Only in Liberal Dream World does the type of power translate into more paying customers...if they don’t pay for it now, they won’t pay for it later!!

And only in California do the residents of a state buy the complete BS that your government is going to keep the price of electricity down when you’ve already been told your electric bill will be going through the roof!!

California is a broken state without any cash and is the welfare capital of America and growing worse everyday. Mr. President, please cut off the support of this trash living state of global socialist overspending.

Caltrain has been servicing the South Bay for 30 years at least.
CA had plenty of time to upgrade it and had plenty of $$$ if they didn’t blow it on uber left projects.

I’m betting they would spend half the money to electrify the train lines and the other half would go into their cocktail party and vacation fund.

And only in California, a state famous for electricity shortages, would switching to electric power be considered sane.

“The liberals have an unending fetish with exorbitant train projects that nobody wants”

Yup...they have been pushing for high speed rail all over the state of Florida for 40 years now...but none of the proposals show how it would operate without huge subsidies.

I fail to see why an intrastate transportation project needs to be subsidized by the federal government.

They should be spending it on bridges, not somebody’s pet project.

There are very few in California that want this bullshit train, as a matter of fact once you eliminate moonbeam and his fellow democraps(and really not that many of them anymore) there really isn’t anyone. And really what are the stops L.A., nowherevilles and that includes Sacriligeousmento and SanFranfudgepackerville. Now San Francisco would be nice, if it wasn’t for the residents, Los Angeles would be nice if it didn’t exist and then the rest of the stops are well, about as appealing a destination as having to listen to Nancy pelosi and Maxine Waters.

Because the way this State is governed,Private aid would be either refuted or diverted in the worst way possible.

It is the Dems who call the shots for everything, everywhere and it is seriously starting to show.

If Google was smart, they’d stop backing these idiots.
