Governors of Mexico write to support Seattle 'dreamer'

The governors of Mexico have written to an American court to express support for a Seattle-area man who has been detained for weeks despite his participation in a federal program to protect people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children.

The National Conference of Governors of Mexico sent the letter to U.S. Magistrate Judge James Donohue, who is overseeing the case of Daniel Ramirez Medina. Ramirez, a 23-year-old Mexican, was arrested Feb. 10 in a Seattle suburb by immigration agents who initially arrived to detain his father, identified as a previously deported felon. […]

Ramirez’s lawyers, who include Laurence Tribe of Harvard Law School and the Los Angeles pro bono firm Public Counsel, argue that Ramirez’s detention violates his constitutional rights, including those to due process and to be free from unreasonable search and seizure. The government has violated the promises it made to him when he participated in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, they say.

Let Mexico keep its “Dreamers”.These “Dreamers”are our nightmare.

We need to expedite their departure from our country.They we’re not invited.

These Mexican governors need to ask themselves, Why does Mexico suck so much that people feel compelled to leave?

They could write a more useful letter - to Trump and the Mexican government and the dems.

Offer steps that Mexico can take to protect dreamers and other Mexican citizens who currently live in fear of deportation. Some steps they may offer
* pay for the wall
* implement ideas on their side of the border to prevent illegals from crossing to the US
* Actively take back Mexican citizens illegally in the US.
* Pay for education, health care, etc for Mexican citizens illegally in the US

I’m sure Trump won’t care about some offers and they won’t consider others, and they’ll think of others. The main thing is that IF they care about Mexican citizens illegally in the US they need to step up to the table and start talking about ways to reduce the fear that their citizens currently live in. Either that or keep promoting the fear and find ways to handle 11 million Mexicans returning to Mexico as it happens while vilifying Trump.

We all know that Mexico and it’s politicians and democrats don’t give a #*!@ about the life of illegals in the US. They use that for their own political advantage. But we can keep pointing that out whenever they use news like this for publicity rather than as an indication that it’s time to make realistic offers to negotiate a better life for everyone.

Mexico’s been at war with us for a long time, in the so-called “asymmetrical” way. From the hypocritical speech in Congress by Calderón (the guy who built a wall on his country’s border with Guatemala) to actions such as these, they’ve been fomenting a deliberate invasion of the USA. We are way, way behind in fighting back.

The DREAM’ers use our own tax dollars to go to universities to become attorneys then become even more of a pain in the ass because their ego goes through the roof and them use activist groups to propel them into office. Meanwhile our own children don’t get the same treatment and are left with debt while the La Razans don’t.

First: I'd like to see a law (or,perhaps,a Constitutional Amendment) which says that "aliens" don't enjoy all the rights mentioned in the Constitution.

Second: Do Mexican Governors *really* think I give a rat's hindquarters what they think about our Immigration/Residency laws??????

Thank you for referencing that article Olog-hai. As usual, note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

To the best of my understanding of constitutionally enumerated rights, only citizens are protected by such rights, as apposed to “person” rights. This is indicated in Section 1 of the 14th Amendment.

”14th Amendment, Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens [emphasis added] of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

The Supreme Court referenced the 14th Amendment in emphasizing that constitutionally enumerated rights apply only to citizens.

"3. The right of suffrage was not necessarily one of the privileges or immunities of citizenship [emphasis added] before the adoption of the Fourteenth Amendment, and that amendment does not add to these privileges and immunities. It simply furnishes additional guaranty for the protection of such as the citizen already had.” —Minor v. Happerset, 1874.
