Sometimes a speech is just a speech. And sometimes it heralds the prospect of a great national revival.
Donald Trump gave the best speech of his short political life last night, and it had nothing to do with grand oratory. He was thoroughly presidential, speaking plainly and yet masterfully in projecting an optimistic vision of the America he aims to build.
It is a vision so optimistic and encompassing that even steaming Democrats had to join boisterous Republicans in the applause at times.
Anything you could possibly want, he served it up in a feast of ideas and promises. Trump was at times resolute, as when he talked about the “broken promises” of ObamaCare.
And he never once mentioned the media or fake news. Hallelujah!
His speech was well written, and well delivered, chock full of initiatives and full of changes in mood.
Trump was aggressive when he wondered how Democrats opposed to border control would feel if they talked to an American who lost his job and maybe a loved one because of an illegal immigrant.
He showed flashes of humor and talked with compassion about the power of school choice to save children from failing schools while recounting the story of a young woman in the audience. She was one of several nonwhites he singled out in a display of diversity that most Dems couldn’t resist.

Where have these people been? Mr. Trump has been giving that same basic speech for two years.
Trump pooped all over the RATs last night. He set them up, and knocked them down. He showed them for what they are. It was so good watching Pelosi and Pocahontas trying to figure out what to do. They were lost. And they acted like it.
Nice job Trump!!! Let’s get going for America.
My favorite part was the bitch slap he gave McCain over the Yemen raid that McCain said was a failure.
Trump’s enemies, especially the Republican ones, should be happy with his speech.
The Democrats should be pretty happy, too.
Money is going to be spent on “infrastructure” and I’m sure that includes their districts, states etc. etc.
And we already know who wins that battle;)

We are now so used to politicians (well, Obama and Clinton for sure) droning on and on with so many words that their points get completely lost.
That didn’t happen last night. Point after point after point in almost rapid fire fashion. No extra words needed.
Is it a career??? or a CALLING??? God called this man to save this country.
They have been refusing to watch any of his rallies, instead relying on the FAKEnews media to tell them how awful Trump was. Happily, we who are actually the informed group, already knew that President Trump had this speech in him. What a great speech, both content and delivery.
Listening to NPR before the speech (yeah, I know) Democrats were expecting Trump to show up in a clown suit and make a fool of himself. This would have been the catalyst for the effort to remove Trump. They have come to believe their propaganda, always a mistake. Now they’re flummoxed.

Millions of Americans have never heard a Trump speech. Remember that MSM demonized Trump during the election so most Democrats and Independents took MSM at their word and assumed that Trump was a monster.
When Trump was elected, his victory speech was at 3:30 in the morning and most people had gone to bed. When Trump was inaugurated, only those who voted for him bothered to hear his speech as it was on a workday.
So last night's prime time speech was the FIRST time that millions of people ever heard Trump speak. And most of those people are now saying "not a bad guy."
This is the worst fear of the Democrats' realized and the main reason they were so on edge last night. This was the very first time that President Trump got to actually use his bully pulpit to get his message out to America unfiltered by MSM.
That doesn’t explain the professional punditry(both left and right) praising the SOTU speech that was more or less the same speech he’s delivered 50 times already. I still don’t get that angle.
Best speech he has ever given and probably the best speech I have heard since Ronaldus Magnus.
