CHICAGO -- Chicago reached a grim milestone overnight, surpassing the 100th homicide of the year.
38-year-old Samuel Head and a 20-year-old man - whose name has not been released yet - were both shot and killed at a house party at 65th and Drexel around 1 a.m. Saturday morning. Police say two men in hoodies fired shots into a crowd, then took off. One victim suffered from a gunshot wound to the chest, while the other was hit in the torso and face. They both died at the scene. Head's girlfriend was taken to the hospital in good condition with a graze wound to her thigh.
Police say both men were documented gang members. No arrests have been made.
Three people were also shot at 74th and Baldwin around 8 a.m. Saturday. A 20-year-old and 39-year-old man were taken to Northwestern Hospital in good condition, while a 15-year-old girl was transported in stable condition. Police say people in two vehicles were actually shooting at each other. Charges are pending against one suspect, police said.
According to the Chicago Police Department, Chicago has seen 90 murders so far this year, compared with 96 at the same time last year. Some deaths that the Cook County Medical Examiner rules as homicides are excluded from those figures, including individuals killed in police-involved shootings, and freeway shootings, which are investigated by the Illinois State Police.
Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said the high-tech strategic support centers recently rolled out in some districts are showing some positive results, but it's clear there is much more work to be done.

Where’s Obama? Hiding behind his walls in his new mansion.
Chicago surpasses 100th homicide of the year (where’s Obama?)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Obama is in Washington , D.C, , pursuing community organazms.
Death becomes him.
I've wondered for some time now: do all of those murders ever get prosecuted?
I think Chicago is running ahead of Aleppo
Those two sentences explain a lot.
The terrors that these communities face cannot be solved unless the criminals are mercilessly dealt with by the very ordinary citizens whose property, persons and lives they prey upon.
Support centers are showing positive results? Excuse me Mr. Superintendent of Chiraq Police. You’re gonna need a little bit more than support centers to put down the thugs in your city.
Black culture is so interesting.
0bama’s out, it’s now Trump’s fault (MSNLSD)
Since there is no Whitey around to blame, we will not be hearing of this.
When they find a way to blame Trump, it will be all over the news.
I think Hillary Clinton absolutely has to make a statement about this.
Otherwise it’s as if she is condoning the murder and racism that has been motivated by her hateful rhetoric.
Trying to figure out how he can blame Bush uh, Trump...
Chicago gets all the publicity but Baltimore is much more dangerous. You’re much more likely to end up murdered in Baltimore. It’s all because of the same thing though-drugs and money.
Ho hum, Democrats shooting other Demcrats and then blaming it on Republicans.
That's almost 12 a week.
If they can maintain that pace the Toddling Town will set a new record of about 620 for the year!
Progressive Chicagoans can count on Progressing towards Progress in Progressive ways with their Progressive Leadership!
Trump’s fault.
I’ve wondered for some time now: do all of those murders ever get prosecuted?
Hey Jackass site says only about 5%.
Nope. I don't remember where I read this stat, I think it was on the Chicago Police Blog Hey Jackass! but am not 100% sure: Roughly 8 in 10 murders in Chicago are NEVER SOLVED. The Chicago Police barely have the resources to solve 2 in 10 murders.
Lesson: If you're going to murder someone, take them to Chicago. You've got an 80% chance of never being caught.
