Far-Right candidate Marine Le Pen has hit a record high in a new poll as France's former leaders have admitted she could become the country's president.
The Kantar poll currently has the National Front party leader at 45 percent in a second round contest against conservative candidate Francois Fillon.
Her popularity drops to 42 percent against centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron, who is currently favourite to win.
The figures come as two former prime ministers have said the anti-EU politician could pick up momentum and steal victory in May.
They say a Le Pen victory could come as a result of the worldwide wave anti-establishment resentment that saw Donald Trump elected US President in November. Former conservative prime minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin said: 'Madame Le Pen could be elected.'
Another former premier, the Socialist Manuel Valls, has also warned of the 'danger' of assuming Le Pen cannot win.
Last week polls put the anti-immigration candidate in the lead to win the first round of elections at the end of April.
A BVA-Salesforce poll published on Thursday put Le Pen at 27.5 percent, ahead of Macron on 21 percent and Fillon on 19 percent.
Polls show support for the 48-year-old has been consistent for four years now.

One of these days, the public will know the real reasons why Merkel tried to destroy her own country. The struggle will go on for years, but I’m hopeful the German citizens will reclaim and hold what is theirs. I suspect Angela must go before any of that saving starts to happen.

Yes....the American “media” has not played this clip in the States, which is of no surprise. Le Penn, like Trump, is leading a nationalist revolt. God bless her.
I have family in Germany....in Cologne, site of the mass sex attacks on German girls. My female relatives no longer feel safe walking about town without male escorts....like it’s the middle ages & not a Western nation.
