In April of last year, Bryan Bender of Politico laid out the general's role in assessing and responding to threats from Russia:

Bump.

The “Trump is in bed with the Russians” attack has not worked, so the latest attempt to get something to stick is “Trump is anti-Semitic.”

Since his daughter converted to Judaism and his son-in-law is a lifelong Jew, I don’t think this will get much traction.

Just because there is no logic or reason involved doesn’t mean the Dems won’t try it.

True, but it’s less likely to be successful. There simply is no there there.

On the contrary, Dems believe their “Trump is in bed with Russians” attack worked. The attack led to Flynn’s resignation.

The next attack is aimed at Bannon.

I am very suspicious of him for being so favored by the usual MSM/GOPe/neocon suspects.

His record is incredible. He’s shown professional and military courage. He’s a visionary and a team player.

You don’t think Trump fired (forced to retire) Flynn for the reasons Trump stated?

We’re not hiring him to be brave and courageous. We are hiring him to give sage advice to Trump.

Having so many neocons sing his praises makes me nervous.

the latest attempt to get something to stick is “Trump is anti-Semitic.”

Which certainly explains why his daughter married a Jew and converted.

Attention, Media Morons. You CANNOT BECOME A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSMAN in NEW YORK CITY if you're an Antisemite!!

You don’t make LTG without knowing how to give sage advice. You don’t make 0-9 because of the nefarious and ubiquitous neo-cons who scare you. Are you saying you don’t trust Trump’s judgment? Was he duped?

For whatever reason, Trump has Priebus as his CoS — and Priebus in turn is bringing in all kinds of GOPe/uniparty appointments. Acosta is an example of that—so it is still going on.

A neocon-believer’s “sage advice” is not what Trump and this country need.

As a rule of thumb, Trump’s nominations that cause an uproar are home runs. Those that lead to accolades are IMO suspect.

Okay, maybe he should appoint Milo Yiannopoulos to be his National Security Advisor. That’d show ‘em all. We don’t need professionals who bucked the system and paid their dues! Just find someone who can p*ss off the left. That’s the most important thing, after all. I mean we’re not talking about US Security.

Your pathetic straw-man argument proves you’ve no legitimate point.

Hint: When the system lauds someone for bucking it, you ought to look twice.

‘New national security adviser pick marks big change on Russia” - THE HILL

Maybe it was the reason that Flynn had to go.
