Can you believe this rain bust? Last Wed. it was ‘gonna drown! 4” in two days!’ then it was ‘maybe an inch, inch and a half’ now it’s ‘nevermind’.

We needed this rain.. the ground is/has been dry, not a good sign in spring. I’m worried the drought is returning, in fact, the start date was Feb 18, 2011.

Ok, Lee, I can use some advice. Just spoke to someone else with pollen allergies and she told me to give mom her Zyrtec every day before the signs of the attack, not as needed. I was waiting to see if the symptoms started. The eyes get very red, she’s rubbing them, she’s doing that little almost tic-like cough, blowing her nose, etc. But one day she refused and two hours later she sounded wheezy and asthmatic. So I know I can’t wait too long.

Rye, New Hampshire is on the other end of the spectrum. Brisk sea breezes keep the pollen count near zero, year round.

Ten miles from the coast in California is pretty bad.

I never had allergies until I lived in phoenix area. too much over planting in all housing developments, too much construction stirring up dirt and spores in the air as well as daily landscapers blowing it around and constant daily lines in the sky from planes - whatever that stuff is. Any time breeze and storms (dry or actual rain) passed over I had sinus issues, allergy symptoms.

Az is not what it was 25 or more years ago.

I have actually been there. Stayed in a lovely B&B. We were nearly eaten to death by mosquitoes, LOL.

I live in a valley very near a river. I am doomed.

Thanks for your warnings about Phoenix. The problem is I am EXTREMELY allergic to Missouri, my wife is VERY ALLERGIC to Georgia and also gets anaphelactic reactions to fireants, one child is very allergic to Georgia, and two children do not fare well in northern climes, and we need to be near good IT work and a critical mass of traditional Catholics including Mass and sacraments.

My visits to Phoenix were great experiences, and they were in January and March.

Get a dose or “cedar fever” around Austin and you’ll be convinced Austin is number one.

I think it’s mostly Louisville, being in the Ohio Valley. I’m mostly allergic to molds and mildew. So the west would be my first choice. KY is a beautiful place to live.
