“...climate and the weather.” Isn’t that redundant?
Not surprised to see Jackson, MS on the list.
Kind of surrised Baton Rouge didn’t make the top 5.
The DC metro area didn’t make the list, but we have, by far I think, the greatest number of people who whine about their allergies.
San Antonio and Austin near the top too!
On a visit to Phoenix, my hosts drove me up onto one of the mountains to see Phoenix at night. We drove past blooming orange groves, and, by the time we reached the overlook, my sudden allergy attack was so bad that I hardly saw the view -- much less enjoyed it!
Worst allergy attack of my life!
This area is very, very bad.
Which area? There are over 3.5 million square miles in the USA.
Well.....seems almost everybody has them. I know we never had them until we moved here. Of course, we know they (below) are in the business of making money off of allergy shots, something that never worked for me but have worked for others.

In Atlanta we often have pollen counts over 10000, where 500 is considered high. You can see yellow clouds of pollen blowing off pine trees. Same throughtout the entire southern pine barren.
I’ve heard that. My retired Allergy-Asthma Dr. brother had a large practice in the Atlanta area for that reason.
Those orange blossoms smell so good until you have a bout with allergies. So sorry you had to suffer the way you did.
If anyone has ANY lung condition they do NOT want to live near Syracuse NY. It isn’t limited to Syracuse - I think my county is actually worse.
And the only thing the specialists around here will do is hand you the latest new-on-the market asthma inhaler.
I want to move before I choke to death, but my hubby can’t retire for ten years. I may have to go rouge if my condition gets much worse.
You’re right.
I’m trying to get out west. I think Louisville is the worst. It gets more terrible with each year. With the mild winter we are having, I am at the worst I have ever been. Singular, Advair and allergy pills are not working. Hoping for some cortisone this week.
Tennessee River Valley of HSV, AL. We are surrounded by Appalachian foothills which keeps everything in the valley. We have a small company and the employees stay sick all the time due to sinus problems. One moved here from MN and has been sick ever since he moved here. He was never ill before moving. I have a patio with a glider on it. I can not go out for very long before I start sneezing, eyes watering, and nose running, it is a shame because it is gorgeous here today.-—about 70 and sunny.
That sounds rough. I’ve been in that area and it is beautiful. Best wishes.
Today, Arizona is rated as one of the worst states for allergy sufferers. According to WebMD, Tucson and Phoenix have very high rates of allergies and asthma. Where there was once mostly desert landscaping is now covered with green grass, new plant life and an abundance of new allergens in the air.
Life is weird that way.
Down here in SoCal too. I have to give mom a Zyrtec every day unless it’s pouring rain. I don’t have pollen allergies and I’m glad; it seems like quite a curse.

Then, you should read my #26 before you do.
Seriously -- visit Phoenix when the orange trees are blooming.
That was the only airborne allergen attack in my life that went from no problem -- to actually painful -- in the space of a minute or less!
Spend time where you go out west, because we have a lot of the same trees and grasses - transplanted here. Also our plants don’t bloom in exact same months each year— they get a bit confused by heat waves in January etc. and bloom at weird times.
My mom can handle the Central Valley better than LA for this pollen stuff.
My name for pollen allergies is ‘Pepper Nose’.
You get that itch in the tip of the nose, usually happens just before you sneeze, but the sneeze doesn’t come for some time. Your eyes are pink, lined and runny. Your lips stay chapped. The trick is not to overmedicate to soon, or your tolerance ceiling will keep getting higher. I may take some Benadryl if it gets really bad, or even a Caffiene pill. Caffiene tends to help me dry the sinuses up.
I also take lots of Vitamin C for Pepper Nose.
