As dawn approached, units from the Iraqi federal police and Emergency Response Division mustered near the village of Lazaaqah, roughly six miles south of Mosul.

As they approached, bullets from Islamic State snipers whistled past, even as helicopters flying overhead bore down on Islamic State positions with heavy gunfire and rockets.

ISIS

Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.

The Kurds have already begun their march on Raqqa.

The Caliphate is doomed.

No mention of the preparatory artillery barrage. Its so retarded, these modern wars that insist that anything bigger than an RPG is somehow immoral.

Soooo...the Iranians are helping the Iraqis kill ISIS. The Saudis are helping ISIS. The Turks are helping ISIS. The Russians don’t like the Turks. The Jordanians are fighting ISIS.

I SAY...tell the Israelis to consider all the help we have given then and take care of this shiite....because if we get in there ....instantly they will all start killing U.S. AND THEN WE WILL HAVE TO KILL THEM ALL.......hummm.

The Saudis are helping ISIS.

One more reason.

As I've maintained in the past; on 9/12/2001, we should have blown the Sowdies off the map.

This Mosul offensive is the slowest advance in the history of warfare.

Or so it seems to me.

Ha—I heard Gen. Jack Keane on Larry Kudlow’s show yesterday describe very matter of factly how this would roll out today.

Apparently the military hasn’t entirely given up announcing in advance its next stages of attack.

Since they’re being killed and blown up, those not yet dead know it. I’m hearing it’s off to a pretty good start.

You’re right. These operations will run simultaneously, and a lot of power is going to be brought to bear in both places. The enemies of ISIS are going to packing a big punch.

I don’t know what you mean. I’ve seen footage of the 155’s firing in to the city. Yes, there is a greater emphasis on direct fire and minimizing civilian casualties. I’d say that’s part of our Christian heritage. We’re not slaughtering people just because we have the power.

Our footprint is pretty small, really. I think the locals with our support will suffice. Our support from the air, Intel, logistics, and forward observers is pretty substantial. Then, when ISIS is defeated, we'll see if the Iraqis can work on a decent SOFA agreement with the our country.

They're going to need US trainers, US Intel, US logistics, and the US assistance with rebuilding Iraq. Someone will end up making a lot of money putting it back together. There is no way to know if they'll accept our goodwill. As for Syria, if Assad ends up with it, then Russia can pay that bill. I know a lot of the posters here want Putin to have an empire, warm water ports, a flank on NATO, etc. He'll have it thanks to Obama's failures.

It’s a little like Mohammad Ali announcing he was going to knock an opponent out in the fourth round. There really cannot be too many surprises. The coalition has ISIS boxed in to an urban area. They’re going to be killed unless they surrender. Surprise isn’t much of a factor.

The words may be similar but the events are not. One never happened, after all. This one is happening.

What I see is that Iran is running free all over Iraq and enjoying their mutual shiite religion with the 60 percent of Iraq which is shiite and in power. U.S. spending the money and Iran getting the benefits doesn’t look to promising. I wonder what the Israeli public position is on this situation?

Of course they wouldn’t mind U.S. paying for it either.

Everyone wants ISIS defeated except for militant Sunnis. Most Sunnis don’t want them.
