Skip to comments.A ‘Shadow Cabinet’ to Restrain Trump - Sharp critiques of extreme policies from eminent ex-offls

We need to make America great again, and for that Donald Trump might be our man. For all the anxiety the White House has caused, brewing constitutional crises at home and anger abroad, Mr. Trump has opened a path to reunify this politically divided nation.
A team of rivals that transcends party lines, composed of eminent men and women, could rein in the administration. This bipartisan group, preferably endorsed by past U.S. presidents, would be made up of former cabinet members and heads of independent federal agencies. Inspired by the British Shadow Cabinet, it would be structured to mirror the official cabinet and would issue rapid, sharp critiques and cogent alternatives to the administrations most dangerous policies.
By becoming a recognizable public fixture, the group would wield the clout necessary to compete with the White Houses megaphone, offering the disgruntled public a clear opposing stance rather than the disparate, and sometimes desperate, efforts today. The group would provide the opposition much-needed focus by identifying the most destructive policies and pronouncements: some examples from the first few weeks include antagonizing our allies, forcing through an ill-considered immigrant ban, undermining the judicial system, and politicizing the National Security Council.

Well I guess they’re onto the next great hope to stop Trump....lol
...Funny how no one thought this necessary during the radical Obama years...
Or, any other years, Or, during the drafting of the Constitution.
Gosh, sounds expensive.
Who do they think should pay for it? lol
This guy is part of Harvard’s JFK School of Government. Probably the group of people most offended by an outsider having the gall to win the presidency and ignore their advice (David Gergen is a professor there). Forming a shadow cabinet ain’t gonna change that one bit.
“and politicizing the National Security Council.”
Oh, and 0 and Susan Rice didn’t do that?
Let me guess. Jeb!, Hillary, Soros, Bergoglio...
Does anyone subscribe to the WSJ? and if so, do they really read it?
All past Presidents who join this Shadow Govt need to get their wages garnished, and a Tax Audit from the IRS.
The shadow government is being cleaned out by Rex as he gets rid of the seventh floor
Who does this bozo recommend? Ain’t got a subscription
Desperate load of crap.
To hell with that noise. Get out of the way while Trump drains the swamp and makes America great again!!
Lead, follow or get the hell out of the way!!
All past presidents... Bush 1, Bush 2, Carter, Clinton, Obama - 5 globalists, 3 socialists, 2 neocons. Geez I wonder what kind of “shadow cabinet” we’d get?
Articles such as this are the cause for discord, almost all of which is being caused by the media and a few maverick Republicans. Trump is keeping promises and moving the country forward in a manner that will benefit Americans. And therein lies the problem as globalists would lower America to world standards of poverty, control and corruption. Go Trump!
When leftists lose they simply cannot stand it. They are as gods outraged. THIS is why we are headed to war. For THEIR egos. THEIR anger. Nothing else.
Shadow Cabinet is a non-starter in the US.
Parliamentary systems are forced into it because of the immediate change possible in PMs. Rivals within the party compete for ministries because their equivalent of Cabinet members are also legislators.
A Shadow Cabinet in US politics would quickly degenerate into public disputes within the party, and put too may restrictions and too much scrutiny on the ‘Shadow Secretaries’.
Whatever Davey boy. Trump has been president and in government service for just four weeks and he needs to be reigned in? He doesn’t have any fingerprints on the domestic and international grease fires caused by decades of sellouts in DC selling the nation down the river. Just another group of globalists getting cover fire from another establishment twit in academia and the media while they try to get their “kingdom” back. Anytime I see the word bipartisanship associated with a group I know it’s a bunch of GLOBALISTS!
These are the swamp dwellers who got us into this mess.
They're just not getting it.
Drain the swamp!!
