Norma McCorvey, the Jane Roe of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion, died Saturday outside Houston at age 69, The Washington Post reports.

McCorvey was 22 when she sought a way out for an unwanted pregnancy, becoming Jane Roe, the pseudonymous plaintiff of the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade that established a constitutional right to an abortion.

She died at an assisted-living facility in Katy due to a heart ailment, journalist Joshua Prager, who is working on a book about the case, confirmed her death to The Post.

She repented later in life.

Should be a rallying call for pro-lifers everywhere. Do it for Norma.

U.S. Supreme Court decision that established a constitutional right to an abortion.

I wonder what the Founders would say, if you told them the Constitution they wrote apparently had something in it that mandated legalized abortion.

Returned to the Catholic Church about 22 years ago.

She never had an abortion.

maybe she repented, but the result of her sin has left a deep unhealable scar on the world stage- The ramifications of her decision enacted a massive onslaught of mass murder to the tune of 1.5 billion babies worldwide who were never even given the chance to enjoy life the way their mothers did-

There are 7 billion people in the world- Nearly 1/4 of the world’s current population has been murdered by abortion since 1978

The guilt she must have felt over the years after she repented must have been tremendous if she was unable to forgive herself- which many people are-

At least the article notes that she did change sides later on, and regretted what happened.

What say you that the ending of her story won’t shed the light of day in the MSM?

She became the enemy of the pro-abortion crowd. A crowd that clearly duped her when they brought Roe. And I never really “blamed” McCorvey for that decision. It was the S.C., and it would have ruled that way eventually—although admittedly some children would have been saved in the meantime.

That’s too bad. 69 is not that old. RIP, Norma; you really did change your life in a deeply positive way. (Plus, you made Gloria Steinem grind her teeth!)

The burden of knowing the role she played in the unnecessary and cruel deaths of so many millions of children must have been quite heavy.

She repented for her work in an abortion clinic and joined operation Rescue. She never had an abortion herself, she was just a prop for the pro-aborts.

Fox News Radio, in its top of the hour newscast, just broadcast a 1993 sound bite in which Ms McCorvey celebrated the 1973 court decision but feared it would some day be overturned.

Not a word about her eventual change of heart.

CNN would be proud.

I understand that but this is a classic example of the phrase ‘actions have consequences’- in this case it turned women into mass murderers who were now legally protected by the courts

I would say she gets about 1/2 the blame. She was recruited after she sought an abortion but the clinic was closed. Certainly those lawyers had no intention whatsoever of getting her the abortion she wanted, they just needed a name.

I’ve heard her speak several times over the years at pro-life events. She was estranged from the daughter she gave birth to. I wonder if they had reconciled.
