Historic Trump presser signals mortal combat between MSM and president now a two-way fight
The American Thinker ^ | 02/17/17 | Thomas Lifson

Yesterday's utterly compelling news conference by President Trump, held on short notice, signaled an entirely new era in relationships between a president and the major media. For decades, the ability of mainstream media to bully presidents has been part of the accepted landscape. In 2004, then-influential Newsweek journalist Evan Thomas admitted that media bias was "going to be worth maybe 15 points" to the Kerry-Edwards ticket, an estimate he later scaled back to 5 points – enough to swing most presidential elections.

President Trump does not accept that status quo. He fights back.

...Snip...

Let's start with the Times story, which was a rehash of a story last month which was itself a rehash of a story in October.

Third paragraph: "The officials interviewed in recent weeks said that, they had seen no evidence of such cooperation."

So Obama's stooges were tapping the phones of Trump aides during the campaign — imagine Nixon doing that to McGovern! But they turned up nothing. "So far." I like that, "so far."

But wait, the FBI is "sifting through … troves of previous intercepted communications."

Any conversations about Trump? "It is also unclear."

The officials, the Times said, "would not disclose many details." Call me a cynic, but considering these tax-fattened desk jockeys were breaking the law in even leaking this nothingness, I'm guessing if they had any dirt they would have put it out, instantly.

...Snip...

The alt-left always loads these tall tales with caveats. There's at least one graf that admits that there is no there there. Here's the Times' CYA on the golden-showers story:

"The FBI has spent several months investigating the leads in the dossier, but has yet to confirm any of its most explosive claims."

The times, they are a-changin'.

The GoP has been scared shtless of the media ever since the Nixon prople criticized them and got hung for it one by one.

However right now the media is sick from an unconscious disease, which is forgetting that it is the adulation for the narcissic Obama, Obama urging it too, which lead to press debauchery.

Obama is this unconscious beating on the press to this day. The fake news is a counterpart to the cover up of Obama!

I was working yesterday all day and only got to watch the entire press conference late last night. Trump seemed in total control and at times having fun. Wasn’t hot headed or anything. They just simply are having a hard time adjusting to a GOP president who doesn’t take their crap.

Paraphrasing the words of their god, Big Media is bringing a pen to a gunfight.

I would add that the nutty “peace and love” of liberals has a super disturbing shadow counterpart which is crucifiction and genocide if criticized

You spoil and cover up for Obama, and the end result will be a beating smear of his opponent of most vile kind. It happens in families doing preferences for a kid, for stupid chicks in love with a dude etc

It is a psychiatric game of chess and the media loves to be it’s whore

Not quite.

It’s not mortal ‘COMBAT BETWEEN’ MSM and president ...

It signals the ominous slaughter of the MSM by the +65 million and growing Trump supporters.

That's the real scandal here.

Absolutely loved, loved, loved the terrific press conference held by President Trump yesterday.
Many millions of honest-to-goodness Americans were cheering while listening at their workplaces.

This morning even NBC's AM "news" was saying that those leaking classified information could get up to 10 years in jail. That seems light for Sedition.

As I think about it, other questions comes to mind. Perhaps it's true that it's okay to report that information. But what if they paid for it? What if they didn't get confirmation of the information in the leaks from at least to other sources? What if they don't have anything but verbal sources for the leaks?

I was listening to Rush's JIP while in my office. I literally laughed out loud when Trump told Acosta that he had his staff check his Labor Sec nominee Acosta's Family Tree to make sure they weren't related and then spit my coffee out when he said CNN's new name is 'Very Fake News'.

Best press conference ever!!

Trump has the truth on his side. The media has fake news on its side and it is easy to tell who will win. The media is cutting its own throat.

IF, IF it can be proven they paid for the information...they are guilty of conspiracy to divulge classified information.

The First Amendment cannot protect them.

"But wait, the FBI is "sifting through … troves of previous intercepted communications.""

THIS is why the NSA spying Snowden revealed is such a problem.

There is too much data for it to be valuable in real-time. Sure they can focus on key words and phrases, but in real life who sends an email saying "I'm planning on killing so-and-so, are you in?"

But what the data is good for is mining for past history once you pop up on their radar.

Have you said something the establishment doesn't like? ...Let's have a look see on what we have stored on you....

Join in progress. It's a term Rush uses when he plays a press conference or other news event live during his show.
