President Donald Trump's press conference on Thursday was the "harshest and most sustained attack on the media by a president of the United States in history," according to Howard Kurtz.

During the question-and-answer session, Trump repeatedly criticized CNN and tussled with its reporter, Jim Acosta, and was terse with MSNBC correspondent Kristen Welker.

"You couldn't turn away," Kurtz said on "Special Report" tonight.

Trump was awesome today. A real, honest-to-goodness guy. Not a phony scripted robot like Obama trying to act cool and professorial.

The media still thinks if they fake outrage and disdain for Trump's comments and actions, that the American people will get behind them and hate Trump too.

Quite the contrary. As during the campaign, after getting hit with another historically campaign-killing story, Trump's poll numbers would go up.

Trump's popularity just went up to 55% after the Flynn mess.
