Bold Nebraska Once Again Trying To Thwart Keystone XL
Self | 2/16/2017 | SolidRedState

Bold Nebraska is running a letter writing campaign to block the XL pipeline at the state level with letters to the Nebraska Public Service Commission. We can do the same by writing in support of the pipeline.

Here is an excerpt from their campaign letter ..

"Today, TransCanada submitted its application to build the Keystone XL pipeline to the Nebraska Public Service Commission. [1] With the shocking silencing of the massive public outcry against this pipeline by President Trump's State Dept. -- which said that the federal government is "not inviting further comment at this time" [2] -- Bold's efforts will now turn to focus on Nebraska, where the Public Service Commission today begins a process that takes up to a year, and includes public hearings and other opportunities for you to make your voices heard. Landowners in Nebraska will also continue to mount legal challenges to TransCanada's claim of eminent domain authority to seize their land against their will for the pipeline. ACTION: Send a hand-written letter to the Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) with your concerns about the Keystone XL pipeline. Click here for tips to help you write your letter to the Nebraska PSC, and a form so we can track that you've taken action. In your letter, be sure to include your full mailing address for a response, let the commissioners know why you are against the Keystone XL pipeline, and urge the PSC to reject TransCanada’s permit application. Here are some facts to consider: • As an agriculture-based state, we do not need to take more agricultural land out of production for a foreign pipeline. • The pipeline needs to be rerouted to avoid the sandy porous soils of the Sandhills, shallow water tables, and recharge part of the Ogallala aquifer. • Urge the PSC to require that TransCanada "twin" Keystone XL with its existing Keystone I pipeline -- which would see Keystone XL constructed inside the existing easements and established pipeline corridor in Nebraska. TO: Nebraska Public Service Commission 1200 N Street, Suite 300 Lincoln, NE 68508

Address your letter to all five Nebraska Public Service Commission Members: • Frank Landis: District 1 • Crystal Rhoades: District 2 (Omaha) • Tim Schram: District 3 • Rod Johnson: District 4 • Mary Ridder: District 5 "

With paragraphs ... sorry

Today, TransCanada submitted its application to build the Keystone XL pipeline to the Nebraska Public Service Commission.

It seems the main fear being raised here is that the pipe line would leak, and this would be followed by disastrous and unrecoverable pollution of the local water table. And that’s the reason the protesters have been chanting “Water is life” in various languages.

Credible engineering data is needed here, and the credibility might be a problem in an era when global warming is considered a fait accompli, rather than something that might occur under certain circumstances that we can’t even predict yet. I don’t want to see the water table polluted any more than the next guy does. But I do want to intelligently weigh disaster scenarios that include what would likely happen as an alternative (like trains carrying all the oil). If a pipe does spring a leak, what happens? Would it even hurt the water at all, floating on top of it like it would tend to do? So many questions, so few attempts at answers, so much Chicken Littling.

They are admitting to being part of the protests. Send them a bill for the cleanup and freeze their account till it is paid in full.

“Credible engineering data is needed here,”

We already have a multitude of pipelines crossing Nebraska. Right over the aquifer and through all terrain of Nebraska.

Pipelines are safer, cheaper and more efficient than rail or truck.

The engineering data is already there. No more need to delay over a need for data.

Aren’t these the same Lincoln and Omaha liberals along with some wealthy land owners who hijacked the former Governor into fighting it in the first place?

The pipeline has been re-routed away from the Ogallala Aquifer and it’s hardly the first pipeline to cross agricultural land, but it will be the most modern and sophisticated in the event something does occur.

“They are admitting to being part of the protests.”

Oh, they weren’t just part of the protests, they were the driving force in the protests to Keystone XL and a LARGE part of the Dakota Access protests.

Don’t get me started.
