PHOENIX—All but one of about 50 undocumented Mexican migrants at a meeting Saturday indicated they would rather risk detention and long court battles in the U.S. than return to Mexico voluntarily.

The majority of migrants at the meeting in Phoenix, which included Mexican officials, signaled in a show of hands that they were ready to fight deportation in U.S. courts.

“Even if that means detention for weeks?” asked former foreign minister Jorge Castaneda.

“Even if it takes months,” shouted one woman. “Even if it takes years,” another yelled. “We are here to fight.”

Isn’t Mexico telling them to tie up our courts? Send them packing they have NO rights so why should they get time in our courts.

Can the local jail charge room and board for these illegals while they sit and wait for a trial? If so, leave them there forever. Question is, who would actually pay the bill?

By the way, they have no standing. Past presidents had special courts that ruled against all of a large group at once and the groups had no lawyer, because they weren’t citizens.

Fast justice with always the same ruling. “Bye!”

The solution is to deport them and let them engage in legal proceedings in US courts from Mexico via Skype or teleconferencing

“Question is, who would actually pay the bill?”

I am not suggesting this, just pointing it out. In Saudi Arabia if your family doesn’t pay for your food, you starve.

the reason they prefer detention here is they get three squares and cable, as well as a nice, clean place to sleep. Mexico is so poor that many people live in dirt floored huts and eat whatever they can scrounge. Those are the ones who prefer detention here. (For the most part, they have no skills and don’t even speak English.)

I'm all for them 'fighting'. Put a bolt action rifle in their hands when we land them in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria and let them go fight ISIS. They rotate out when their court date comes up.

Lots of Oregonians against Kate Brown’s decision to make the ENTIRE state a sanctuary state. We can’t afford her, she is breaking the state. Any from Oregon here that want to sign this recall petition, PLEASE DO! https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/recall-governor-kate-brown/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=button

Fine, don't grant visas to Mexicans, until Mexico agrees to respect American laws. If they "reciprocate", they lose. They need American tourists, we don't need more welfare spongers.

It’s not going to work. John Kelly already said that they have plans to streamline deportations and get the timeline down to two weeks.

How can a court rule they came here legally?

Charge them room and board plus court costs, if they can not prove they legally crossed the border.

Two weeks is more than enough time. How long does it take to produce papers if one is here legally? The only delay I can see is the length of time to validate the papers for those who have them; those who don't should be deported immediately.
