Betsy DeVos's nomination to become secretary of education was a squeaker. It made history by being the first confirmation to be put through because of a tie-breaking vote in the U.S. Senate by the vice president.
The closeness of the vote shows the importance of DeVos's selection. We have a government running out of control in terms of its attempt, beginning with the No Child Left Behind Act in the Bush administration and continuing with national standards falsely labeled under Common Core as "State Standards" (CCSS), to do an unprecedented end run around the Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which gives control of education to the states. Even before No Child Left Behind, we had Outcomes Based Education, where the Department of Education "incentivized" methodologies and goals instead of leaving those determinations wholly to the states.

They keep saying she has no experience in public education so she’s not qualified...
WELL LOOK AT THE MESS THE “QUALIFIED” PEOPLE MADE!!!
RE: They keep saying she has no experience in public education so shes not qualified..
What rule in the universe tells us that one must have been a public school teacher, a principal or a superintendent to qualify for Secretary of education?

I only hope they are extremely aggressive in reforming the failed government school system.
There is nothing that says that she has to have public education wexperience.
But you can tell the liberal talking points. I heard/read online that the libtards were saying she was unqualified, and when I got home and started my usual ranting to my Facebook friends they ALL used the EXACT SAME PHRASE.
None of them could explain in detail, but they all knew to say “she’s not qualified” so she would be terrible.
DeVos is unqualified to be head of the DOEd in the status quo bureaucratic sense. Her value though is in creating disruption and new thought processes. Just ticking off the bureaucrats will be well worth our support.
Yet David Coleman who had no practical experience in public education is allowed to architect the common core standards implemented in most public schools.
The crooks in the corrupt education system are attempting to protect their territory.
They say that because they misconstrue her purpose.
One of the earliest planks of Trump's campaign was returning education back to the states (along with building the wall and reforming the VA).
DeVos was not brought in to improve the Department of Education, she was brought in to dismantle the Department of Education.
She doesn't need experience in public education to do that.

Abolish the US Dept of Ed
The "progressive" meme never includes an acknowledgement of that movement's decades-long coercive role in creating an environment for such constitutional ignorance, violence and chaos as we are seeing today.
That so-called "liberal/progressive" movement intentionally diminished the role of parents and schools in teaching students about their Creator-endowed rights and responsibilities, their individual role as citizens in their communities, and the character training which once was the goal and aim of education in America
Do older readers of this thread remember when such character training was a part of the school day? Do any now retired teachers remember when the National Education Association provided booklets and other materials based on Biblical teachings and America's founding documents in order to teach children their rights and responsibilities as good citizens?
Perhaps an examination of this web site may refresh the minds of such teachers. Or, perhaps a reading of this factual account of NEA publications may enlighten others who are younger to understand the degree to which the "progressive" control of education in America may have contributed to our current dilemma.
