Well, you didn’t call me a Nazi this time. That’s a plus.

That’s the new FR standard: if one doesn’t buy into the Russian Fake News line, one automatically supports Soros.

Amazing, I say that neo-cons always lie and then you proceed to lie about me calling you a Nazi thus proving my point. Will you double down now or slink off back to the dark corner of the net you came from?

I suspect the defense industries that give these two contributions are jonesin’ for some warfare to boost their bottom line.

Trying to use group identity slams, now? I can play that game: If you’re a Conservative why do you spend so much time lying about other Freepers? So far all you’ve done is reinforces the saying that Leftist, SJWs, and Neo-Cons always lie.

The best solution for the Ukraine situation would be partition. Western Ukraine, which is heavily Uniate, or Greek, Catholic, recognizing the ecclesiastical authority of Rome, was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire before World War I, and Poland before that. Its culture and history tie in with Central Europe. Eastern Ukraine is mostly Russian Orthodox, and Kiev was the seedbed of modern Russia. This area was part of the Russian Empire for centuries. It is to Russia what Virginia and Massachusetts are to the United States. A division could be made, possibly using the pre-1914 border between the Hapsburg and Russian Empires. Eastern Ukraine could either be annexed by Russia or become a closely associated state, like Belarus. Western Ukraine could become independent, using Lvov as its capital.

Kiev is pretty non Russian these days. It’s a good idea, but the best partition line would be the Dnieper river in the south. I have no idea where to draw the line in the north. Russian’s going to have to face the fact that they’re never really going to have good relations with Ukraine again thanks to the Holodomor. You can’t try to genocide a people and ever expect them to like you again.

>Russia/Mexico found some sympathetic people in E. Ukraine/SW USA, armed them, sent troops, and financed their takeover of the two respective territories.

More lies. The first Ukrainian coup government military units sent into the east where disarmed by the locals and sent home. These people were loyal to their elected government. The fighting started when the Neo-Nazi units moved east and started murdering people.

Oddly all historical accounts of the Russian/Georgian war of 2008 start with the Georgians invading a Russian protected nation and attacking Russian troops.

Do you deny these facts?

You never answered the question. Again, I will say it clearly, if a Soros funded “color revolution” was successful at ousting President Trump, I would immediately be at war with them. Would you not?

Nyet, tovarich

By all accounts, the war began when the Russians threw a hissy fit when the Georgians began shelling Georgian territory.

Absolutely. Now it’s my turn: if hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian civilians successfully ousted a Russian puppet, would you think there was a reason, or would you blame George Soros?

I would understand there reasons and due to the existence of Milla Jovovich I would have no other choice but to pull for them to win. (even if Soros was behind it)

The thing about that though, is this. There would still be people in Eastern Ukraine fighting with or without Putin.

In all honesty, I have no dog in this fight (other than the Jovovich clause mentioned above), but I am a student of military history and conflict. I have followed this one to the best of my ability.

In doing so I have had to (at times) see things through the eyes of the guys fighting for the DPR. To be perfectly honest, in interviews, the guys on the ground fighting state their reasons similar to the way I did above. They feel like their government was unlawfully overthrown.

If I felt that way, I would likely fight as well. None of which has anything to do with Putin.

>By all accounts, the war began when the Russians threw a hissy fit when the Georgians began shelling Georgian territory.

There where 2 months of both sides shelling each before the Georgian invasion. Both sides said the other fired first. However, given the planning and organization that went into the Georgian sneak attack and the fact that it caught the Russians off guard, there’s very little doubt that an invasion was the plan of the Georgian government from the start.

The official western press explanation is the Russians baited the Georgians into attacking, but that doesn’t change the fact that they attacked first thus giving them no basis to play the victim when their invasion failed. An equally plausible explanation is the Russians got wind of the impending attack and prepared for it and then effectively countered it once it was underway.

I’ll note also that Georgian/Russian relations have generally been pretty good since the Neo-con president of Georgian, one Mikheil Saakashvili fled the country before he could be arrested on corruption charges. Mikheil Saakashvili later showed up to govern a province in the Ukrainian after the Neo-con coup in that country.
