True, but there are fewer and fewer tube units around every year. I would love to have a mobile tube unit that I could depend on for my rugged country rigs.
I think Zenith made these into the early 1980s.
There were still primative but powerful radio sets.
We were stationed overseas in Japan in the 1950s. Dad’s radio would pick up broadcasts from Moscow, thousands of miles from us.
I hate it when NETCOM does that because it activates the receivers that were implanted in my and every other soldier’s brain during basic training. It always gives me a headache and a desire to eat a John Wayne bar. (chocolate & toffee disk to those non-military types)
