NBC Has Been Accused Of 'Whitewashing' For Replacing Two Black Hosts With Megyn Kelly

Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly's arrival at NBC News, where she is to replace hosts Tamron Hall and Al Roker on the third hour of the Today show, has triggered anger from the National Association of Black Journalists, which claims the network is engaging in "whitewashing."

[Snip]

It added that Hall and Roker's strong ratings deserve "praise, not punishment," and then took a swing at Kelly, claiming that she has "a well-documented history of offensive remarks regarding people of color."

Actually, if NBC really wanted to whitewash its ranks, it might consider doing something about this meathead ...

It’s kind of funny to see the race baiting network getting accused of racism. Reap what you sow.

Democrats see this as unfair for a simple reason: it takes 6/5 caucasians to equal 2 negroes (@ 1 negro= 3/5 caucasians).
So NBC needs to hire 1/5 more caucasians or keep 3/25(?) of the negroes.

That’s using the oldest and most venerated Democrat Party rule.

Not that I like defending NBC. But... Tamron Hall quit. And Al Roker is 62 years old. While they do have the highest ratings of networks in their time slot, its lower than the ratings from the hour before. So people, especially younger people tune out the third hour.

If Tamron wanted to stay she could have signed her new contract but did not. At 46, its not wise for someone who trades on her looks to be too greedy when contract time comes around.

Tamron will have her chance in the free market now. I am sure she will be picked up somewhere. Its likely that she thought more of her value than NBC did. But now she has a chance to prove them wrong or right.

In this case, the “blacklash” is somewhat justified. NBC is replacing two known and reasonably popular figures with an unknown.

Kelly is being beaten handily by her successor in her old time slot. The odds are she will crash and burn with a morning audience. She is trying to cultivate a “hard journalist” image. Something that most people don’t want in the morning.

Roker and Hall are right to be pissed.

I never saw their “hour”, but Tamron seems like a very generic person who reads the news OK and has cute clothes. She used to go absolutely slobbering crazy over any black guests on Today, and seemed otherwise kinda chilly. What qualified her to host an hour, other than skin color? Al Roker is a lefty but pretty funny. So whoever at NBC decided they deserved their own hour is like all those people last year trying to cram Hillary down our throats and insist they know what’s best for us.
Megan is also not as special as she thinks, so I think they are grasping at straws as ratings sink. Maybe next they can find a cute kid and some puppies as “hosts” and would have better luck.

I wonder if she regrets leaving Fox?

I don't think she could march back to where she needed to be from where she talked herself into. Thus, I don't think staying at Fox was an option.

And CNN could start by de-emphasizing Van Jones. That terrorist supporting, Communist racist should not be legitimized by a major talk show hosting spot.

I think Van is a dangerous man. He has Obama’s silver tongue and a lot of his ideology (although maybe not the Muslim part). But fortunately, he has a less anonymous past.

Maybe this is little off the subject, but why does every organization seem to have a "black" version too.

The likes of this National Association of Black Journalists, Congressional Black Caucus, United Negro College Fund, NAACP, etc. all seem to promote racism rather than minimize it.

Is there a National Association of White Journalists? A Congressional White Caucus? A United White College Fund? A National Association for the Advancement of White People? No there is not.

Ginning up racism is a big business nowadays. Just look at Sharpton and Jackson, who make big buck pushing racism. These organizations and other like them, just make racism in the country worse, not better. Blacks want to be treated the same as everyone else but seem to think they deserve more than others because they are a different skin color. This worsens the racial divide. It certainly doesn't make it better.

I agree with you. I don’t have a clue what those NBC execs could be thinking bringing Megyn Kelly in. She’s toxic. Even if race weren’t always an issue, replacing those two with her makes no sense.
