Here is a simple rule of thumb for understanding Democrats opposition to Supreme Court Nominee

Here is a simple rule of thumb: you can judge the caliber of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee by how angry the Democrats get. The smarter and more influential the nominee, in an important sense the more qualified they are, the angrier Democrats will get.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has said that he will fight “tooth and nail” against any nominee who isn't "mainstream." But Trump gave voters his list of potential nominees and election exit polls show that 21 percent of voters considered U.S. Supreme Court appointments to be the most important factor in casting their votes.

Tracking federal judge appointments over the past four decades, I have found that confirmations took much longer for graduates of top-10 law schools who served on their school’s law reviews. In fact, it took 65 percent longer compared with graduates who neither went to top law schools nor did particularly well there. Among nominations from the Carter through the George W. Bush administrations, confirmations took about 160 percent longer for the top students at top law schools who further distinguished themselves with clerkships on the Supreme Court.

We find the same phenomenon in jury selection, where lawyers often disfavor intelligent candidates or ones who make a living by persuading others. The concern is that these people will have a strong influence on their fellow jurors. Greg Mankiw, a Professor of Economics at Harvard University, was only considered for five minutes before being dismissed from jury duty. As he later wrote on his blog, “The only information they had about me at the time was based on a brief questionnaire, which did not say much more than my name, address, and occupation.” This caused Mankiw to wonder: “Why does being a professor of economics at Harvard make one an undesirable juror in such

Now imagine the outrage if Republicans treated obama’s picks this way.

Now we have racist Sotomayor on the bench.

Just go nuclear on Chuckie...

A simpler Rule of Thumb: If a SCOTUS nominee doesn’t have his head stuck up a Demonicrat keister, he is not a suitable nominee for Demonicrats.

This time around, they will oppose whoever Trump nominates, regardless of qualification. The only person they would vote for would be if Merrick Garland were renominated - and to be clear that is a nonstarter for me and I’m sure Trump.

I hope Schumer goes away toothless, nailless, and bleeding from sharp and cutting responses to his bullying. I really hate Shumer’s tactics on any level you can imagine.

They are going to use all their arrows on this first one and then there will quickly be another seat to fill. People will be sick to death of their antics

Supreme Court justices, once seated, will either remain consistent with expectations or will veer judicially to the left.

Schumer certainly knows this. He’s hoping to get one of the “mainstream” choices that will end up lurching over to the left and being more like the “wise latina”. Not gonna happen under President Trump.

I can’t wait until President Trump gets to nominate a replacement for Ginsburg or one of the other dinosaurs. Schumer and the other usual suspects will be apoplectic.

Schumer knows he is no match for Trump. Trump’s known him for decades and knows he is a totally full of $hit loser.

I seriously want to see Chuckie cry again, then I’ll know beyond a shadow of a doubt that our great President picked the right judge.

Trump should go one better tonight. Announce he is not only filling the Scalia vacancy, but that of the James Moore Wayne and John Catron vacancies, which have been empty since July 1867 and May 1865, respectively.

President Trump. Wake up! You will not do a damn thing to the communists Democrats. Inform them that every day that they stall on my cabinet leaders I will repeal five of King Obama’s regulations. Then inform them that if it goes over 1 week from today, I will kill Obamacare. And if the Republicans do not assist in this death of Obamacare, start a real war with them.

The people spoke. Are all of you deft?

It’s all about abortion. Anyone who is opposed to the wholesale slaughter of infants in the womb is bad and needs to be destroyed. It’s always about abortion with these people.

I love the fact that McConnell refused to have hearings on Merrick Garland and now we're going to get to pick. I love it because it absolutely enrages the liberals. It doesn't matter who Trump picks, they're going to throw an epic fit. It's going to be a lot of fun to watch.

They should keep in mind that McConnell was gambling. Hillary could have won and picked someone more liberal than Garland and we would be throwing the fit. The gamble didn't pan out that way though.

They should also keep in mind that McConnell was following "the Biden rule" when he declined to have hearings on Garland.

Regarding constitutionally required Senate approval of Supreme Court justice nominees by the President, please note the following.

When the Founding States drafted the federal Constitution, they had smartly decided that only the state legislatures, not ordinary citizens, would have the voting power to elect federal senators, senators expected to approve Supreme Court justice nominees who respected state sovereignty.

However, low-information state lawmakers later unthinkingly threw a monkey wrench into the Senate justice approval safeguard when they ratified the ill-conceived 17th Amendment (17A), essentially politically repealing the federal government's constitutionally limited powers by doing so imo.

Patriots need to work with Trump and the states to repeal 17A. Once that happens, federal senators elected only by state legislatures will once again kill unconstitutional House appropriations bills, bills which not only steal state powers, but also steal state revenues uniquely associated with those powers, unconstitutional Obamacare an excellent example of such a bill imo.

Trump should announce tonight that he was going to select America Garland because that would have been the right thing to do but since the Democrats became such a$$hats he is selecting Gorusch. Then say, he plans on selecting Garland when the next spot becomes available, however one vote against his choice and his new pick is Cruz.

Even if it is 100-0 still pick Cruz.
