Nigel Farage: Britain should follow Donald Trump's 'extreme vetting' policy
Evening Standard ^

Nigel Farage has backed Britain introducing “extreme vetting” measures as he defended Donald Trump’s controversial travel ban.

The former Ukip leader suggested the UK Government should adopt similar border policies as he insisted the US President was “entitled” to enforce his widely criticised immigration crackdown.

Mr Farage told the BBC’s Sunday Politics he blamed the ban on German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the country's open-door policy towards those fleeing war-torn countries in the Middle East.

He said: "I mean frankly since I made those comments we had the Merkel madness, and I think Trump's policy in many ways has been shaped by what Mrs Merkel did.

Thanks for the Nigel link!

Yah....the only problem with invoking such a vetting regime in the UK is, at this point, there would be widespread rioting. On a large scale.

I am not saying the vetting is or was or will be the wrong thing to do. I am saying it is probably too late. And that’s why we need to do it NOW.

Nice idea, but it would be a textbook case of closing the barn door after the horse got out. They are already totally screwed.

I’ve been having some private correspondence with a guy in GB that has lived there a long time. They are done. They have just been really careful about the word getting out.

But I now know why Brexit won.

I was watching CSPAN’s coverage of PM questions before the House of Commons and the majority of members from all parties were actually outraged that Trump’s EO was based upon nationalist reasons.

Farage got it right — he doesn’t use the phrase: “muslim ban”, but “extreme vetting”.

I hate that this is called “extreme” vetting. Its not extreme. Its normal. Its what should be done. He’s not banning people from these countries from coming in forever. And I love how the reporter talks about a “global backlash”. What is that based on? Surely not US opinion polls, which show strong support for it.

You don’t want your nation to be on “the path of least resistance”. If they cannot come here then they will go somewhere else.

Mr. Farage might be the last best hope England has for freedom. Things will get worse before they get better.

Nigel should mention that there was barely a peep from his countrymen when it was discovered that thousands of young women were sexually abused on Rotterdam by Muslims. Yes they can come up with 1 million signatures over a ban in a country that is not even their own.

I think you mean Rotherham.

Also the signatures are fake. There is a lot of support for Trump here.

Interesting. How are they fake?

Off topic, but if you are a UK Republican does that mean you are a fan of Cromwell?

Yes. All countries with a small clue should be doing this. Except of course those who produce _pieceful_ fanatics.

Vetting is the easy part.

The real question is why should ANY civilized nation allow a religion that commands it's followers to MURDER?

There is no protection on registering these signatures.

Many are coming from abroad.

Do you really thing that many Brits care that strongly
About this? Highly unlikely.

Well it was set up years ago more as a symbol of
Support to the Republican Party. But as it goes,
I am not in favour of the monarchy.
