No shame at all, proportionally, far fewer have died in the UH 1 than in the Osprey. The UH1 has been in service for 60 years, the V22 far fewer. I’m not a Marine and I didnt coin the phrase, Flying Coffin. Talk to the grunts who have to fly in it. Or the crews. And facing the facts causes no shame whatsoever. The shame comes from those who want to keep it going knowing full well it is a death trap.
A “great aircraft” at what cost? Tell the families of the dead to “get over it.”
I wonder how hard the landing was to disable the Osprey??? Hopefully they learn which hyd lines crapped the bed and they can reenforce them in the fleet.
Hyd lines always seem to be the long pole in the tent when falling like a turd off a tall moose. Many regions are at high altitude there. Maybe the osprey was chosen because of the inability for helos to get up high?
Probably lots of lessoned learned on this mission.
RIP.
