Mexico rebukes Israel over Netanyahu wall tweet

Mexico's government rebuked Israel on Saturday for a tweet by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that appeared to applaud U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to build a border wall with Mexico to keep out illegal immigrants.

Netanyahu said on Twitter earlier on Saturday: "President Trump is right. I built a wall along Israel's southern border. It stopped all illegal immigration. Great success. Great idea."

The comment was swiftly rejected by leaders of the Jewish community in Mexico, and prompted an unusually blunt statement from Mexico's foreign ministry.

"The Foreign Ministry expressed to the government of Israel, via its ambassador in Mexico, its profound astonishment, rejection and disappointment over Prime Minister Netanyahu's message on Twitter about the construction of a border wall," the ministry's statement.

"Mexico is a friend of Israel and should be treated as such by its Prime Minister," it said, noting that Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray expressed his deep affection for Israel in an event marking Holocaust memorial day on Friday.

Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon said on Twitter Netanyahu had been referring to his country's "specific security experience" and that Israel was not voicing an opinion on U.S.-Mexican relations.

I don’t trust wiki.
But, we should apply Mexico’s own immigration law on them in return.
They would freak.

It’s not a continuous wall. It’s a bunch of sections of fencing near border crossings. There’s not actually a “wall” down there.

Yes, Wikipedia is a different beast.
A “consensus” run encyclopedia.

Interesting. Mexico should explain why they are against the wall. I thought they just didn’t want to pay for it.

If the government is complicit in drug trafficking and people smuggling this is an act of war.

“Wiki says there is not wall on the Mexico-Guatemala border. Not sure whom to believe.”

The have a lot of troops on the border. Those that get past are used and abused by some of the troops and police. The Mexican government give them no social benefits. Thus those that get through head for the USA as fast as they can.

As a part of Nafta renegotiations, adopt reciprocal laws for immigration, residency, and rights for non-citizens.

Mexico has some of the strictest immigration laws on the planet.

We should invade Mexico for their acts of war against the US, take it over, kill their corrupt leaders, and set the Mexican people free.

There is a wall and our Kenyan president gave them 75,000,000 tax dollars last Sept. to improve it.

Wiki says there is not wall on the Mexico-Guatemala border. Not sure whom to believe.

There's a concrete wall about 12 feet high, with 5 to 6 feet of chain link fence on top of that and razor wire concertina above that along both sides of the road from the Belize border check point over to the Mexican checkpoint.

All built by Mexico, "to keep out contraband".

Drove past it again this afternoon.

Mexico...a country of drug lords and slave labor is rebuking Israel? They HAVE their own southern wall. With that record, they should be American Democrats.
