This would be great. 55 electoral votes gone. republicans would dominate.

CA will go broke and we admit them back only on our own terms.

Or just build a second wall!

It looks like we’re going to need a bigger wall.

Nobody left in charge out there has enough brains to run a country. They can’t even run a state.

Reminds me of when our five-year old decided to run away from home, after a time out.

How many times do I have to say goodbye to that state? Just leave already.

I am sure the State of Jefferson plan to succeed from California is also building up a head of steam.

Californian’s in rural areas are predominantly conservative.

By my math 242 electoral votes would be needed for the win.

LOL.

But we need them to leave. Then really clean up the mess in D C.

Maybe other libs would move there.

They’ll collapse in a decade. Come back on our terms.

You think the GOP is smart enough to heavily underwrite this effort?

Actually, as soon as they exit....the northern part of the state would succeed from the country of California, and prep the paperwork to re-enter the US as “Jefferson”. It’d be mostly conservative types voting. The country of California would only be from SF to San Diego. I would also have my doubts that San Diego would stay within the California country as well...probably ending up as it’s own country.

The cool thing is that two things would happen.

1) they leave and never screw up this nation again.

2) their actions are declared treason. The feds invade, and then engages in “reconstruction” where California is knocked back to a federal territory and the people there have no presidential vote or congressional representation.

Right. Just like New York State. Most counties voted for Trump.

We need the the sea ports. Maybe we could keep the part that runs from the AZ border to San Diego.

Good. I hope they do.

Make their own currency. Provide their own defense. Pay the USA for the troops, bases and equipment they inherit. Keep up their highways and utilities. Only travel to the 49 states with at least a B2 visa. Etc....

Yup. Seems a good plan.

Nah, it’d stay at 270 to win; Kali’s EVs, and congressional seats would just get distributed out to other states, assuming we keep the great State of Jefferson’s senate seats.

LA Times did an op ed today telling voters it’s a bad idea.

http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-friedersdorf-calexit-unprogressive-20170129-story.html

This isn’t the Onion. These morons actually want to leave the U. S.

I guess since we’re all Americans, as per Joe Biden, they don’t think it matters.

They think they will build a progressive utopia, but the problem is that's exactly what they will get.

California gets a lot of defense money, and defense contractors will have to move into the US. Silicon Valley will dry up as the venture capital firms will also move into the US. They will have to negociate a trade agreement with Trump.

Then don't forget that latinos and others will want to take over California. Expect whites and blacks to be driven out of California.
