Over the lat 30 plus years, this sort of thing has happened at least three times in Thailand, once when the police brought a murder rapist of a six year old back to the neighborhood in which the crime was committed. At least in the last case, the police turned their backs. Personally I can’t think of a more fitting punishment.

Pecollo received a 30-year prison sentence in 2010 for molesting five preschool children. He was arrested in 2007 after being connected to the abuse of a 4-year-old child. Six other cases emerged and the court which convicted him recognized five of the seven cases.

He was freed in 2014 after his sentence was reduced.
