I know which sites I was able to access on innoguration day and which ones I wasn’t. And I know which sites fail to load for me on every third try and which ones don’t. In fact, I know which site fails on me on every “big” news day like clockwork.
Obviously we all have a lot of patience, but let’s be frank, here. Nothing stays the same. Freerepublic has a lot going for it, but I compare it to the old Checker Taxi. In spite of their strengths, well, they are no more. The world is always changing. Nothing stays the same.
That being said, some people think taxi’s have not been the same since the Checker brand went under. There certainly was a lot of room in those back seats. But priorities change and competition is always there to offer new things. The customer sweet spot constantly shifts.
Woohoo!
I was stuck on FB for my social networking and the bs out there was terrible. I need a like mind!
Some guy named Trump and the Kenyan is gone on a rest and relax trip as he is just so tired and needs rest. Might play a few rounds of golf. Why, I bet he tries out for the Pro Golf Seniors Tour soon.
The one upside to FR going down on Inauguration Day was that I actually paid attention to the ceremonies and speech where I might otherwise have been too busy reading and posting here to pay full attention to the significance of the event. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when Trump was taking the oath and Obama was no longer in command of anything.
Yesterday, I spent a good amount of time on Reddit, which I see as FR's main competitor. Mainly the r/The_Donald sub. I love the spirit there but it moves so quickly that it's hard to follow. You also don't get as much of the quality substantive analysis you get here. Over there it's mostly memes and one-liners, one after the other. A fun place to be, don't get me wrong. But it's more like being at work with a million things going on at once. Here on FR, it's home!

Look at URL just below the first paragraph.......

OK...what happened? The hamster went on strike?? Glad it is back....
I was very pleased to see FR back up this morning. God bless all of you!
Wheeeeeeeeeee! :)
One of our HP SANs started to take a dive. Fortunately it warns you when one of the disks is about to go looney toons. HP support was scrambling afterwards; bashing and powershelling their way through the recovery process.
Timing was very suspicious. But like others on FR, I was instead watching history being made on TV rather than posting.
President Trump! I love those words!
:^)
Me, too!
Back at last. Back at last. Thank God Almighty you’re BACK AT LAST!
I was actually depressed I could not get in. Feel a lot bett now. Even had to go to Facebook to read posts and was tempted to fire up an account.
This long of outage is basically a termination type of offense for a redundant issue
Absolutely correct. It screams not enough fail-over prep. I love FR and this is not a criticism. I was on IT also for a long time and in our industry 2 hours of downtime often means being drawn and quartered.
LOL - I understand. It was a difficult period. Nowhere else is there a better consolidation of current events. God bless all of the Freepers who contribute articles from everywhere else.
