Yeah, I was on my way on a Friday night trying to get to that power plant out by Farmington back in ‘91. I could only imagine that it was like the ‘highway of death’ in the last days of the Gulf War. I stopped counting accidents at around eight or nine and only counted serious ones after that.
Don’t tell me that the old cliche’ about firewater and Indians doesn’t hold.
What’s wrong with me? Of course the white man is responsible.
We had some amazing tech back in ‘70.
I know. See my response back to laplata. Our experiences were pretty much the same. The whole reservation thing was a disgrace. I don’t know if it’s changed any in twenty-five years.
Funny about your friend begging you not to go. I was working for a subsidiary of Caterpillar at the time and I had the same reaction from the guys at Rust Tractor who was the dealer for New Mexico at that time. They literally begged me not to go.
Grab me a 1970 Mach 1 with 428 and shaker; red please, spoiler, slats.
Also get me one in Metallic Blue with a Boss 351. Auto will be fine on both of them.
I swear Hot Wheels made a 70 (not 71 nor 72) Boss 351 back then - maybe it was a hopeful guess.
Shoot, might as well get me a 1970 Boss 429, too. In orange.
I’ll be back with more on my shopping list. I wanna go back to 1970 anyways.....
They literally had highway patrolman check points with breathalyzers in the middle of the day!! We got stopped near san juan river. They were RELIEVED talking to us. The wole damned area is drunk!!
New Mexico is the only state I’m aware of that has sobriety check points on the Interstates. Otherwise it’s a pretty good place with a lot of good memories including Nurse Goodbody on my way to the Nam.
Those were the days.
Thank you SIR for your service to America, You and NIXON won that war. Democrats cut the funding for the South after you left!! Cooper Church amendment to the budget. Democrats are pure evil. Thank you SIR!
You’re welcome.
The pleasure was mine.
Your history is right spot on. As a lot of us used to say. ‘I don’t know what happened. When I left the war was won.’
I never liked demonrats but after ‘75 I despise them.
That’s scary. Stay safe.
I know where that plant is.
After Nixon was resigned for nothing Ford did his best. He begged for funding but the Democrats choked off all funding for the South!!. The North Vietnamese Communists saw this and invaded full force and 1 million Vietnamese died. Its all true history. The Blood is on the Democrats.
Is that Jeffery Tambor?
His less handsome brother.
Or his stunt double?
“The Larry Sanders Show”: In my top 10 of TV series.
Ping to #35
Yeah, I saw many eps maybe 10 or so years ago when they were airing in syndication.
HBO recently put all the eps online so I’ve started watching from the beginning.
Good for you. Rip Torn was my favorite on that show.
