NBC News correspondent Cynthia McFadden reported Wednesday that President-elect Trump was never briefed on a “two-page addendum” alleging that the Russian government has damaging information on Trump.
In fact, McFadden further stated that the brief — published by BuzzFeed on Tuesday — was in fact an example of “what [U.S. intelligence officials] are calling ‘unvetted disinformation,'” designed to help Trump distinguish between “analyzed intelligence” and unverified reports.
“A senior U.S. intelligence official who was involved in the preparation for the meeting tells NBC that the president-elect was not briefed on this so-called two-page addendum of these allegations against him,” McFadden state. “It was part of the briefing materials available to the briefers, but it was not included because they believed it to be true. It was included for a different reason.”
“It was included should they feel they needed to explain to Mr. Trump the difference between analyzed intelligence and what they are calling ‘unvetted disinformation,'” she continued. “It was available for that purpose, and it never came up. Importantly, documents were never presented to Mr. Trump or his team.”

Why did the intelligence agency release this to the press, and who specifically did this?
And why did John McCain send them this to begin with?
If they can perfect a system by which information can be sourced to avoid malicious libel, then I would expect we will continue to see these kinds of stories cycled repeatedly.
The only way Trump can really win is to go after the inside sources. If he can cut off the media's route of plausible deniability, then they will be left out to hang all on their own (lack of) credibility.
McCain fell for this fake news hook, line, and sinker. He really, really hoped it was true and would bring Pres. Trump down. AZ, it’s time to recall this 80 yr old who is losing his marbles.
Here’s one aspect of the story that doesn’t pass the smell test for me. First, the story: In 2013, Trump defiled the bed that Mooch and Barry slept on at the Ritz, by hiring hookers to pee on it.
I checked as to whether or not Barry and Mooch had indeed been in this hotel. Wiki says Barry made a trip in Jul 2009 and Sep 2013. During the Sep trip, Mooch was in DC lecturing poor school kids about eating. So, as far as I can tell, the only time they laid on this bed, in the presidential suite at the Ritz, was July 2009.
And Trump allegedly defiled it in 2013 - 4 years later.
Now this is akin to one dog peeing on a post to mark his territory...and a few minutes later another one comes along and re-marks it. If Trump were really of that mindset, wouldn’t he find a room that Mooch and Barry laid in a little more recently?
Hotel years are like dog years - 4 years is more like 10-15 for a normal bedroom. Odds are very good that it wasn’t even the same mattress. I wonder if Trump would have known that...oh wait, he’s in the hotel business.
It just doesn’t make sense that he would mark his territory 4 years later.

At this point Trump could easily justify firing every federal employee involved. And he should.

Excuses, excuses - the “intelligence” folks trying to prevent being hung on their own petard and playing games with the media over the whole thing; using the media as pawns in some cases, using them to carry their water in others, and using them to excuse what cannot be excused - their incompetence.
