Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump announced his pick for VA Secretary, the final missing piece of his cabinet. Trump has picked David Shulkin, the current Under Secretary for Health for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
If Shulkin is confirmed, he will be the first non-veteran to serve as VA Secretary. Shulkin has served as undersecretary since June 2015. He was previously was the chief executive of many hospital systems.

He appointed a swamp monster to drain the swamp? Not cool, especially for all that tough talk about doing the right thing for our vets.

Yes, this is very disappointing. The VA is such a mess that anyone involved in running it currently should be ousted.
If Trump is truly going to “drain the swamp”, he can’t have any 0bama appointees staying around.

Vets will continue to suffer because Trump picked an Obama flunkie as a fig leaf to the democrats. Veterans should be outraged over this nonsense.
I read somewhere a ways back that there was a faction of vets who wanted to hang in there with the current VA guy...they were not getting support for Trumps picks...

I figure it’s a give the dogs a bone strat and then fire his arse once he takes his place in the WH. A little heat diversion if you ask me.
If you’re going to get upset about swamp monsters, i’d start with the goldman sachs guy at treasury first. as important as VA is, it’s small potatoes compared to what treasury can/will do.
We’ll have to see what this guy does...If nothing, then can his azz....
ROFLMAO! Maybe he heard something from this guy that he liked. The under Secretary knows how things run and what was wrong. Sometimes the second or third in charge are the best to change things.
Is there ANY chance that as “under secretary” he didn’t have the power to make real change and now will?
I’m not a vet and I would work day and night to make their lives better if I worked for the VA.
The head guy got fired.
That’s the start.
This guy can immediately perform.....if he wants to.
If not.....out the door with him.
It’s going to be tough to find the right person to run the VA.
The Democrats were smart.
The VA is their money maker.
They could care less about stealing from the Veterans.
But, there are a lot of people who appreciate the Veterans.
They want the government to treat them fairly, and the Democrat thieves hide behind that cover.
The VA bureaucrats ARE organized crime.
I’m not exaggerating.
They aren’t Mafia, but they are organized crime.
It’s going to take a special person to clean up the VA.
Fearless. Not afraid of the Democrats, the press or the bureaucrats and their lawyers.
