Obama is seriously considering a pardon for Chelsea Manning (Actually Bradley Manning)

President Barack Obama is seriously considering a pardon for former Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning, according to a new report from NBC News.

Manning was convicted of violations of the Espionage Act and other charges in July 2013 after he stole nearly a million secret documents while working as an intelligence analyst, later giving them to WikiLeaks. The files detailed operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and revealed secret diplomatic cables, some of which were highly embarrassing to the US.

A Justice Department source told NBC News that Manning was on the president's "short list" for commutations. The 29-year-old is currently serving a 35-year sentence at Fort Leavenworth.

Edward Snowden, an ex-NSA contractor who leaked his own cache of files to journalists before fleeing to Moscow, tweeted in support of Manning on Wednesday, writing: "Mr. President, if you grant only one act of clemency as you exit the White House, please: free Chelsea Manning. You alone can save her life."

Snowden is also seeking a presidential pardon, though some say he faces a much tougher battle.

For Manning, it's likely his last real shot at a pardon in the final days of Obama's presidency. Though a decision to pardon the soldier would likely not play well with some members of the military, many of whom view Manning with disdain.

Assange says that the swedes dropped the charges against him. The women who were allegedly victims never filed against him. But Obama presses him and the DOJ leaves the investigation open after 4 years. meanwhile assange has two kids and a wife and he basically locked up in the embassy without them.

What would George Washington or Abe Lincoln have done? Grant (not prez) a pardon? Remember Slovic? He just deserted and stayed in the war zone, he didn’t sell out his country. Who damaged US more? Come Jan 20th, we may get our old military back and throw away those red high heel shoes for the guys.

How appropriate: the President with no balls, and the Traitor who wants to lose his. . .

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but this was the worst breach of national security, like in EVER.”

I think Hillary has him beaten. She got a CIA agent inside the Iranian nuclear program killed days after she mentioned his name in an email. She lost an ambassador while sending his movements to Sid Blumenthal. No telling how many others she got killed, or who had to be removed for their safety after she deleted emails. Once deleted the intel services couldn’t know if the agent was compromised or not, so they reportedly pulled them all. That will hurt us for the next 20 years.

“On what grounds? For what reason? By what logic is he/she/it deserving of a pardon? Was there some kind of miscarriage of justice or law?”

What, you think that a reason is needed? There needs to be no rhyme or reason. He can just do it.

I wonder how long it’s been since a “diplomatic cable” was actually sent by cable.

On what grounds? For what reason? By what logic is he/she/it deserving of a pardon? Was there some kind of miscarriage of justice or law? Seems pretty cut and dried, the freak is a traitor, end of story.

He would get the pardon because it will be said he has “paid” for his mistakes and that the damage done was just to our reputation.

I don’t think he should pardon any of those guys.

And Chelsea knows that if it doesn’t happen next week—he is looking at eight years of hard time.

I hope he gets his/her hopes up, only to be dashed onto the rocks.

I don't think anyone would ever consider Obama as anti freak of any sort.

Disdain!?

Mr. Robinson will not allow me to tell the world how I view a pardon by the despicable obama of this chubby-cheeked faggot traitor...at least on his forum.

So, in respect to that, I will not further comment...except to say that if obama pardons this chubby-cheeked faggot traitor, I will work diligently to discourage any young person seeking the advice of an old retired Sergeant Major on whether he/she should join the US Army.

I will do so until such time as senior leadership of the Armed Forces go on record and condemn both Manning and obama as traitors.

Period!
