CHICAGO (CBS) — Thousands of people lined up outside McCormick Place in the bitter cold Saturday morning to get free tickets to President Barack Obama’s farewell speech next week.
The Obama administration finished distributing the tickets in less than three hours after the first ones were given out.
Lines snaked through two buildings, and outside onto the plaza, with many people arriving before dawn. Some huddled under blankets over their heavy winter clothing, to keep warm amid single-digit temperatures.
People waiting for tickets said they wanted to be part of history. “It’s well worth it. I got my golden ticket, and I can’t wait to see Obama,” Jay Rashid said.

REdistribution may also work - until the free stuff eventually runs out. I heard there were 7000 tickets. Still doesn't top a Trump rally.

I’d say that it was because so many were so happy to hear him speak for the last time, but I saw the lineup and it looked like it was all of those who had not yet been gunned down in the Chicago violence.
Oh - and, needless to say, it’s not like any of them had a job to go to after 8 years of this buffoon. Thanks, Obama - nice that so many have so much free time.

That many tickets would make a nice little fire, and if burned, would at least provide some benefit to someone - heat, light.

7000 tickets, if the weather is bad maybe 4000 show up and the other 3000 tickets go up for sale on ebay.
