WASHINGTON The American Federation of Government Employees strongly opposes a rule change being considered by the House of Representatives that would allow lawmakers to reduce the salary of any federal government employee, or eliminate a federal worker's job, without appropriate planning or scrutiny, AFGE National President J. David Cox Sr. said today.
The so-called Holman Rule undermines civil service protections for the millions of working people who process our Social Security checks, safeguard our borders, support our military, research cures for deadly diseases, and carry out programs and services that are vital to our nation.
Reviving this rule means lawmakers will be able to vote to cut the pay and jobs of individual workers or groups of workers without getting input from the agencies where these employees work.
The jobs and paychecks of career federal workers should not be subject to the whims of elected politicians. The Holman Rule will not only harm our hardworking federal workforce, but jeopardize the critical governmental services upon which the American people rely.
Are we dreaming? We may be able to actually FIRE, outright, federal employees?
It shouldn't exist. Government employee unions in general shouldn't exist. Civil Servants work for We the People ... no reason we should allow them to organize against us.
Let's start kicking out these Leftists as soon as Trump takes office.
Union shops on the outside of government downsize all the time, downsize EVERY DAMNED department and be done with it, government has become a BEAST!!! They can buy out people close to retirement, start checking performance evaluations and cut those, then the new comers GO!!!!
Some of them need to be abolished outright. I offer up the Department of Education, the Department of Energy, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Whatever, and the Social Security Administration for a start.
Anyone tired of winning yet? Didn’t think so. The guy isn’t even president yet.
Well, the House Republicans could have done this in 2010...
It’s a House Rule, Senate has no say.
Americans learned during past budget battles that 800,000 Federal Employees were non-esstential
Wilbur Ross is going to make that permanent
Holman! Holman!! Holman!!
