Mexico Responds To Ford's Decision To Scrap Its New Plan

Mexico "regrets" Ford's decision to scrap the plan to build a plant in the central Mexican state of San Luis Potosi, the Economy Ministry said on Tuesday, adding that it has made sure Ford will reimburse any costs and expenses from the state government to facilitate the now defunct investment.

In a surprising statement on Tuesday at 11am ET, in an act of goodwill toward the president-elect, the second largest U.S. automaker said it will scrap the $1.6 billion factory in Mexico and will invest $700 million at a Michigan factory, after President-elect Donald Trump had harshly criticized the Mexico investment plan.

The Mexican ministry said that jobs created in Mexico have contributed to maintaining other manufacturing jobs in the U.S. that would have disappeared to Asian competition.

Meanwhile, Mexico vowed to maintain its commitment to making Mexico a competitive nation to attract investment, and reiterated its commitment to modernizing NAFTA in a way that strengthens competitive capacity of North America.

It may find roadblocks in that regard if Trump follows through with his threat to build a "great, big wall" between the two nations.

The Mexicanos are ‘paying’ to build the wall and don’t even know it.

More to come. Much more.

Yeah, we should send all of Mexico’s poverty back across the border. We can see what the politician pandering to Mexico has done to this country.

“The Mexican ministry said that jobs created in Mexico have contributed to maintaining other manufacturing jobs in the U.S. that would have disappeared to Asian competition. “

Without some explanation, this pegs the bullsh*tometer.

Biggest problem is Ford itself.

They make lousy cars and can’t compete.

Mexico is correct, Mexican workers and Mexican production has been a firewall that has saved not just jobs, but industries from fleeing to China and supported jobs in the US by enabling cooperative shared manufacturing.

Chinese production and transplanting our technical and industrial base in China is the real problem.

At issue is the fact that thus latest generation of advanced manufacturing equipment is a huge leap forward that really enables high productivity lower cost manufacturing

The countries and companies that make the transition to this emerging next generation will own the future.

Our future depends on the investment in these new manufacturing plants being made here in America to modernize our aging and increasingly obsolete and worn out industrial base and support our population in the standard of living we have become used to

The ones Mexico ships out aren’t exactly the cream of the crop......low IQ, no motivation and a lot of them have mental and physical health problems. Mexico just doesn’t want to have to take care of them......too mucho dinero.
Fu’k Mexico.
The US should cease footing the bill for Mexico.
There are plenty of rich Mexicans to do the job.

Trump has them running scared.

The US is a huge pressure outlet for them. Otherwise, that government would have to get its act together and make life better for its people.
