Anthony Bourdain on Trump win: People were sick of 'privileged' liberals
The Hill ^ | December 31, 2016 | By Brooke Seipel

Posted on 12/31/2016 3:28:08 PM PST by Brad from Tennessee

Television and culinary personality Anthony Bourdain says in a new interview that fellow "privileged Eastern liberals" are the reason that Donald Trump was elected.

"The utter contempt with which privileged Eastern liberals such as myself discuss red-state, gun-country, working-class America as ridiculous and morons and rubes is largely responsible for the upswell of rage and contempt and desire to pull down the temple that we’re seeing now," Bourdain told Reason.

Bourdain attributed the large divide during this political season and Trump's win last month on a division between "Eastern liberals" and red-state Americans.

“I’ve spent a lot of time in gun-country, God-fearing America,” he continued. “There are a hell of a lot of nice people out there, who are doing what everyone else in this world is trying to do: the best they can to get by, and take care of themselves and the people they love."

"When we deny them their basic humanity and legitimacy of their views, however different they may be than ours, when we mock them at every turn, and treat them with contempt, we do no one any good.”

Bourdain also criticized HBO political talk show host Bill Maher as "the worst of the smug, self-congratulatory left. . ."

Before anyone thinks he "gets it":

"We should be breaking bread with each other, and finding common ground whenever possible. I fear that is not at all what we've done."

And Bourdain does not hide the fact that he will not eat at any of Trump’s new restaurants at his D.C. hotel, nor would he dine with the president-elect.

“Absolutely f---ing not,” he replied on the question of dining with the president-elect.

Bourdain is a liberal. He has ALWAYS described himself as such. I like him anyway.

He's a lot like Penn Jillette. They're both libs but they aren't blind to flaws of their political peers. They're outspoken when they feel they need to be.

How did he kill his career? You're a conservative. How many of his restaurants have you eaten at? How many of his books have you bought? How many episodes of his shows have you watched? Bourdain will be just fine.

There is a difference between a ruling elite in the country as suffered in communist China with the communist party and elitists as we suffer in America.

Elitists are bigots who fancy themselves superior over others they target as their inferiors. They are bullies like all bigots. They can, however, end up being mobbed by their targets and bloodied and intimidated quite well. They have no office nor real authority to protect them in the end. They are self anointed.

Hopefully not only some Americans are waking up to the scams shoved down on us by the elite here and around the world.

Nassim Taleb Exposes The World’s “Intellectual-Yet-Idiot” Class, who have ruled America for too many decades.

What we have been seeing worldwide, from India to the UK to the US, is the rebellion against the inner circle of no-skin-in-the-game policymaking “clerks” and journalists-insiders, that class of paternalistic semi-intellectual experts with some Ivy league, Oxford-Cambridge, or similar label-driven education who are telling the rest of us 1) what to do, 2) what to eat, 3) how to speak, 4) how to think… and 5) who to vote for.

But the problem is the one-eyed following the blind: these self-described members of the “intelligenzia” can’t find a coconut in Coconut Island, meaning they aren’t intelligent enough to define intelligence and fall into circularities?—?but their main skills is capacity to pass exams written by people like them. With psychology papers replicating less than 40%, dietary advice reversing after 30 years of fatphobia, macroeconomic analysis working worse than astrology, the appointment of Bernanke who was less than clueless of the risks, and pharmaceutical trials replicating at best only 1/3th of the time, people are perfectly entitled to rely on their own ancestral instinct and listen to their grandmothers (or Montaigne and such filtered classical knowledge) with a better track record than these policymaking goons.

Didn’t Anthony recently say he is considering leaving the US because Trump won? He isn’t much different himself. He’s an arrogant libtard just like the rest of them.

For liberals the time to talk with conservatives was 20 years ago, 8 years ago, even 4 years ago. Now is the time to pay. That is our mood, we could not care less about what liberals think anymore.
