He should write a book: How to milk a bit part in a 60s TV series into a lifelong careerI think you mean How to milk a bit part in a 60s TV series into a lifelong career as a professional victim."

So maintaining a nuclear deterrent isn’t necessary when our weapons atrophy from age?
Well, George is so smart, having played a small regular part in a 1960s science fiction tv show... why do actors think their thoughts are so relevant instead of the professionals who have just as much to lose, like the generals advising Trump?
Yea, we can trust Takei for our survival and safety from the fate of Hiroshima, in a world with many actors that want to do just that to us, without a deterrent. (sarc)

Homo ethnic race card. I lost part of my family bombing Tokyo.

So true! He has done NOTHING else even remotely memorable.

Well, George. We killed many more in conventional bombing runs than we did with nukes. But all of that ignores the fact that Japan started the war. We didn't want it. You forced it.
Since you brought up the subject, how about the other wartime atrocities the japs committed? The death marches? Raping women? The Rape of Nanjing? Your barbaric medical experiments on captured US soldiers? "Comfort" women?
The list goes on and on, you bloody hypocrite. Our nukes saved lives.

I would love to hear Georgies selection. It would have to be yet another choice. Following the 0bomb's example, apologize for American intransigence and negotiate an Iranian-type deal with Japan, ceding them the Philippines, what was then Formosa, part of China, and pay reparations for the damage we caused, plus 50 years of foreign aid.

And HIV is responsible for over 39 million deaths world wide since the first identification of HIV in 1981, (https://smhs.gwu.edu/timetoendhiv/hiv-aids/pandemic) and 675,000 people have died of AIDS-related illnesses in the USA alone, for which homosexual relations are primarily responsible for (one in six men American men who have sex with men cam be expected be diagnosed with HIV in their lifetime). It must not be forgotten that there were no civilians left in Japan by August 1945. In June 1945, the Emperor militarized the entire country by proclamation. Everyone became a combatant. Further, Hiroshima was a garrison city. It held the Headquarters of the Kwantung Army and was a center of military production. Hirohitos wartime Japan was one where there was glory and eternity in death for the Emperor. The Bomb showed the Emperor what conventional warfare and bombing could not: there is only oblivion in death.

Why is he telling President Trump? Shouldn’t he be telling the North Koreans or Bill Clinton, the guy who put the Norks on the road to being a Nuclear Power.
Besides, more people died in the Firebombing of Japan using “conventional” Bombs of the day.
