A 22-year-old member of the Kennedy family arrested after a bar fight early Thursday was defending a gay friend who was being bullied, his father said.
"Conor has always reacted against bullying," said Robert Kennedy Jr. "I'm happy he stood up for his friend."
John Conor Kennedy - who goes by Conor - had asked a group of four men to apologize to his friend for calling him a common homophobic slur an hour before the fight erupted at about 1:40 a.m. outside the Bootsy Bellows nightclub, Robert Kennedy said.

Conor Kennedy’s gay friend, Robert Kennedy said, terming the incident "menacing." ... "I'm very sorry it turned into a police incident," he said. "(Conor's) not liking the attention."

Robert Kennedy said his son was out with a group of friends while in Aspen for the Christmas holidays. He said he regretted Aspen police having to get involved in the incident because of the way officers treated the Kennedy family when his brother, Michael Kennedy, died Dec. 31, 1997, on Aspen Mountain after skiing into a tree.

Conor Kennedy is the oldest son of Robert Kennedy Jr. and his second wife, Mary Richardson, according to People.com. Robert Kennedy Jr. is the second son of former President John F. Kennedy’s brother, Robert F. Kennedy. Conor Kennedy briefly dated Taylor Swift in 2012 when he was 18, according to the website.

Not at all. If nightclub fights didn’t happen so frequently in Staten Island and Brooklyn that the cops ignore them, I would have been arrested several times myself as a youth.
And it was difficult working with a dozen gay guys in graphics in Manhattan (the gorgeous gals somewhat offset it) but the truth is at least a few of them every year did get beat up.
Some of us straight guys would meet the gal workers at clubs sometimes and a few of the gay guys showed up.
If someone called them a faggot AND hit them, I would have stepped in.
Their lifestyle might make me nauseous, but they don’t deserve to get beat up for that.
Just another good ‘ole hard working Aspen boy, standing up for what’s right.
By the way... Somebody ought to put a lid on these shenanigans or the three thousand cocaine dealers who work in Aspen will have to hire a PR firm.
