My county has more land area than Rhode Island. They ought to merge with Connecticut.
Cool. Next time stop in and visit Oak Island, NC. Its at the SC border and there are a number of nice places. Holden Beach and others.
Georgia has St. Simons as well.
Nice story about your Mom.
Happy New Year!
RI is just a welfare state. I doubt Connecticut has any use for it.
As I said before, it’s a great relief that we won’t have the’ 3rd census in a row run by the democraps. Say goodbye to “hot deck imputation” inflating dem populations.
Bet you the Dems still try to gerrymander it!!!!!
Happy New Year to you and yours!
After Trump deports all the illegal aliens in California, they will lose 3-5 seats.
No cars allowed on Oak Island. It takes a plan.
I’m wrong about the cars but a golf cart is in order.
Yeah, I almost forgot that the last time a GOP administration presided over a census count was 1990 (before that was 1970, 1960, 1930 & 1910).
Don’t leave out Senator “Depends” Leaky Patrick Leahy! When the roll of “Worthless $hitballs” is called up yonder, he’ll be leading the pack.
My four children went away to college and never returned to Rhode Island. I loved growing up in Rhode Island on a small farm in Smithfield. I lived in Providence as an adult and immersed myself into the Italian culture so much so I consider myself an honorary Italian. The Italian restaurants in downtown Providence were some of the best in the world. Consider Al Forno.
Politics although predominately Democrat would shift back and forth with Republicans for the higher offices. Then maybe 15 years ago illegal immigrants started flooding the cities. Once nice areas turned into combat zones. Cities and towns were stressed to breaking trying to keep up with social services. It had reached the point of no return. Nine years ago I left too and moved to Texas.
I miss the Rhode Island of my youth.
Trump should start deporting illegals in these blue states...first.
Under the 2016 estimates (NST-EST2016-01), at
http://www.census.gov/data/tables/2016/demo/popest/nation-total.html,
the final 5 seats go to: CA 53, WV 3, OR 6, RI 2, and NY 27.
So Oregon gains one and NY loses one.
Otherwise, FL +1, NC +1, TX +1, IL -1, MI -1, MN -1, PA -1.
The projections made in 2005 (http://www.census.gov/population/projections/data/state)
had AZ +2, CA +1, FL +3, OR +1, TX +1, VA +1, with
AL -1, IL -1, NE -1, NY -2, OH -1, PA -2, SC -1
The 1996 projections...Series B was much closer to reality.
Series A had CA clocking in at 61 seats (I interpolated to 2020), but Series B had CA actually losing a seat.
Otherwise, Series B had:
AZ +1, ID +1, LA +1 (Series B did not foresee Katrina),
MO +1, MT +1, NM +1, OR +1, FL -1, NY -1, PA -1, RI -1,
SC -1, TX -1 (didn’t foresee the gains in 2010)
Ooops...had my columns mixed up....NY wouldn’t lose a seat under the 2016 scenario.
2016 scenario continues with: TX 38 (+2), CO 8 (+1), MN 8 (0), MT 2 (+1), and MI 14 (0).
The problem here is they are all moving to the South and taking their politics and voting patterns with them.
Bad news: Illinois is losing the most people of any state. It is likely to go from 19 to 18 seats. The Dems control gerrymandering in IL. So Republicans will lose 1 seat.
Not correct. Within each state the population gets readjusted. If most of the lost population is in urban areas than those areas will lose a seat. But it is not as simple as removing one seat, everyone else gets registered also.
