The very bad reason Jeff Sessions is ‘very unhappy’

Nationwide, proceeds from sales of seized property (homes, cars, etc.) go to the seizers. And under a federal program, state and local law enforcement can partner with federal authorities in forfeiture and reap up to 80 percent of the proceeds. This is called — more Orwellian newspeak — “equitable sharing.”

No crime had been committed in the Sourovelises’ house, but the title of the case against them was Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v. 12011 Ferndale St. Somehow, a crime had been committed by the house. In civil forfeiture, it suffices that property is suspected of having been involved in a crime. Once seized, the property’s owners bear the burden of proving their property’s innocence. “Sentence first — verdict afterwards,” says the queen in “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.”

Sessions will be grilled on jokes he made 30 years ago. NObody cares that he's an advocate of the state mafia stealing.

I admit a fair amount of ignorance on this subject, and can see the potential abuses. HOWEVER, George Will is not a trustworthy source for anything, and his gleeful attack of the most conservative Senator in Washington should cause one to consider the source.

He was on FNC today saying, “I was against Brexit, too, so it’s been a very forgettable year.” What a turd.

Complaints from the usual suspects, published by the usual propaganda rags, should be ignored.

I second that opinion very strongly. Early in my political learning ... I learned a lot from his reasoning. And then stopped reading him when I knew his reasoning well enough to predict what he would say by the lead. That was ten or so years ago. I started reading him again last year, not for his effective reasoning, but for the same reason I read the Times - to keep an eye on the enemy.

So sure he has a point, but he is also the one from whom I long ago learned that 'the perfect is the enemy of the good.'

George fathoms himself perfect, from which he is far, and picks at and demeans anything that doesn't fit his far from perfect picture, which is his own unconsciously fabricated picture of himself - a manifestation of his ego - gross pride. Thinking so highly of his ideas, and believing anything athwart thereof to be reprehensible, he's become himself the enemy of the good.

By becoming so, he's long been simply the bad itself.

I fail to see how Sessions is in any involved in this case.

Perhaps I misheard him, but I understood him to say that he supported Brexit.

Hey George Will, this is the new America. You're either with the communists or you're with America. Don't automatically dismiss this. I advice you to pause a bit and realize the people you are aligning yourself with. Quit calling yourself conservative. You are not acting like one.

I repeat, make a choice. It's the choice every American now has to make. Choose the communists or America. It really is that simple and why a lot of people finally saw the light and voted for America.

Actually he said the opposite. He said he supported Brexit and that he was right on that one, which should offset being so wrong on Trump.

Sessions’ position on civil forfeiture is not “conservative,” nor is it attributable to “law and order.”

Conservatives have always demanded adherence to the constitution, and due process. Civil forfeiture conforms to neither. It is a tool of the far left.

Trump needs to get Sessions in line on this, or dump him. Appointing Free Masons to positions of authority is always a gross mistake.

Excellent points and good insights on what makes George Will tick. George doesn't have any fixed idealogy and is always just looking for an angle to convey his schtick. If Trump had some polish George Will would love him. Will can't get past Trump's style and is stuck on stupid. George would do better to stick to baseball. The world is passing him by.
