The social makeup of Iran's population is very complex, because there is actually no such thing as the Iranian people. There are, instead, Iranian citizens divided into many ethnic groups: Persians make up about 60% of the population, while the rest are Azars, Kurds, Blouchis, Arabs, Turkmen and tens of smaller ethnic groups.
The main religion in Iran is Shia Islam, adhered to by 90% of the country's people, while Sunnis - mainly Kurds and Blouchis - make up about 10%. The country recognizes Judaism, Christianity and Zoroastrianism and reserves a parliamentary seat for each religion.
Zoroastrianism is based on the belief in two gods, a good one and an evil one.The world is the arena where they battle one another. Daytime is when the good god wins and nighttime is the time the evil god has the upper hand. Good happenings are arranged by the good god, bad ones are the fruit of the evil god's labors.
Zoroastrianism was the official religion of the Sassanid Persian Empire, vanquished in the 7th century Islamic-Arab conquest. The Arabs forced most of the Zoroastrian believers to accept Islam, and punished whoever stayed loyal to his original religion by death. Despite that persecution, or because of it, many of today's Iranians are Zoroastrians who pretend to be Muslims. No one has any idea who is a secret Zoroastrian and who is an authentic Muslim, because everyone identifies himself as Muslim, knows how to pray and is familiar with the laws and customs of Islam.

Not until the ayatollah dies.
Not until Islam ceases from the Earth.
Zoroastrianism is monotheistic. The the creator and sole God is Ahura Mazda.
Not too smart of them to announce their coup in advance.
A day or so after Shushan Purim. Perhaps even the same day depending on the flavor of the Zoro. calendar used and other variables.
India has some Zoroastrians who fled there when they had the persecution mentioned in the article. B’Hais in Iran too. And Jews and Christians I gather.
What did you do to Ahriman?
Iran was once a friend of the US, and very close to a western nation.
Until they let go of the insane delusion that they are chosen by Allah to destroy Israel and the United States, they will amount to nothing and be a joke and laughing stock among the civilized nations. But they will be fairly popular at the United Nations. Which tells you something about the United Nations — start reading from the top ...
True Persians are Zoroastrians.
And they HATE islam.
“What did you do to Ahriman?”
He’s been very busy coaching Obama.

“What did you do to Ahriman?”<<<
For a serious answer: In terms of theology, Zoroastrianism is about eschatological monotheism, and cosmogonic dualism (Ahura Mazda and Ahriman, i.e. Goodness and Evil).
That means, Zoroastrians worship 1 God only (Ahura Mazda) - hence, monotheism. He is known as the creator of the world, as we know it.
Ahriman is the opposing force in the universe. Ahura Mazda did not “create” him, because Ahura Mazda is not capable of creating evil or doing evil.
Zoroastrians are taught that there is and will continue to be a battle between forces of Good and Evil, and Good will eventually & finally overcome Evil.
Zs, therefore, individually & collectively, are encouraged to think, say and do Good to tip the balance in favour of Ahura Mazda. Though, each person (individually) has a choice, and must choose (carefully) for themselves whether they want to follow Goodness or Evil. Their choice will have consequences.
