NORAD has been tracking Santa on his Christmas Eve deliveries since 1955 after Sears Roebuck & Co. misprinted the telephone number to call Santa. Instead of reaching Santa, the children were put through to the CONAD Commander-in-Chief's operations "hotline."

following, but noticed the video clips I have watched thus far they have never said Merry Christmas, only holidays or the language of that country.
Also correct me if I am wrong, but has he hit the good ole USA earlier than previous years?

A couple of years ago I spent Christmas Eve with my niece’s family and we and her four little girls were watching the NORAD Santa Tracker. That year Santa was sending out messages along the way and Lilli who was 5 at the time said, “I sure hope that Santa isn’t texting while driving. That’s very dangerous - even in a sleigh.”

The biggest scare I ever got was Christmas eve, 1962!
That year was the Cuban Missile crisis and then world was on the brink of war! People were in a panic! Then it kind of blew over.
Then on Dec 24, the late news broke in with a NORAD warning that something was picked up on radar coming in over the arctic. Russian bombers? Missiles? Were we suddenly at war? The pucker factor really kicked in for everyone!
Then they showed a crude photo of Santa and his sled with cotton ball clouds floating by!
I didn’t know whether to be relieved it was not war or upset because they gave us such a scare! Every Dec 24, I still get the same feeling of dread when I hear of “Incoming unidentified flying object over the north pole!”
