George Washington University has changed its course requirements for history major to no longer include U.S. history, the College Fix reports.
The university’s history department recently introduced new requirements with the stated aim of giving students greater flexibility to pursue their interests, and to “better reflect a globalizing world,” according to faculty.
Requirements in U.S., North American, and European history were eliminated, along with foreign language. Incoming history major will be required to take at least one introductory course, and may choose U.S. history as option. However, like many other universities, GWU allows incoming students to place out of the introductory courses by scoring well on Advanced Placement exams in high school.
It is therefore possible for a student to major in history at GWU without taking a single course on U.S. history. According to a report from the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, the same is true of about two-thirds of the leading universities in the country.
The GW Hatchet reported last month that the changes were motivated in part by a desire to attract more students to the history department, which has experienced a steady decline in enrollment since 2011
“The main gain for students is that they have a great deal more flexibility than they had before, and they can adapt it to whatever their plans are for the future,” said Katrin Schultheiss, the department chair. “Whatever they want to do, there’s a way to make the history department work for them.”

That’s like removing the algebra requirement from engineering majors. More Leftist insanity.
It figures. Now the “congress” needs to cut all federal funding and tell the Univ. powers to be that all “federal funds” were part of history and that too is being eliminated. Can’t have it both ways. Find another way to pay your bills.

Any long lasting change in our country will have to include reforming “higher” education. Every profession is impacted by the insane leftwing world view of colleges and universities.
I went to GW and used to give them money. I stopped two years ago. They keep calling and asking and I keep bringing up stories like this as to why I stopped. The people on the other end of the line stammer a little but really don’t have a response. Its one of the rare occasions when I’m willing to continue talking to the telemarketer about why I won’t donate but they don’t have anything more to say and hang up. Its sad. When I went to GW in the 1980s, it was a fun school and provided a good education for a reasonable price.
That was going to be my analogy. Because math is racist, too.
How can so many people who have been given so much have such disdain for this country?
Perfect. They’ll not be needing to know about the US Constitution - it’s so ‘yesterday’.
All they need to understand is how the ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT will work with a full appreciation of Socialism, Communism and Atheism with a little bit of Islam thrown in.
