Earth’s Magnetic Field is Changing

Anyone watching a compass needle point steadily north might suppose that Earth’s magnetic field is a constant. It’s not. Researchers have long known that changes are afoot. The north magnetic pole routinely moves, as much as 40 km/yr, causing compass needles to drift over time. Moreover, the global magnetic field has weakened 10% since the 19th century.

Earth’s magnetic field protects us from solar storms and cosmic rays. Less magnetism means more radiation can penetrate our planet’s atmosphere. Indeed, high altitude balloons launched by Spaceweather.com routinely detect increasing levels of cosmic rays over California. Perhaps the ebbing magnetic field over North America contributes to that trend.

As remarkable as these changes sound, they’re mild compared to what Earth’s magnetic field has done in the past. Sometimes the field completely flips, with north and the south poles swapping places. Such reversals, recorded in the magnetism of ancient rocks, are unpredictable. They come at irregular intervals averaging about 300,000 years; the last one was 780,000 years ago. Are we overdue for another? No one knows.

A new study by the European Space Agency’s constellation of Swarm satellites reveals that changes may be happening even faster than previously thought. In this map, blue depicts where Earth’s magnetic field is weak and red shows regions where it is strong.

Data from Swarm, combined with observations from the CHAMP and Ørsted satellites, show clearly that the field has weakened by about 3.5% at high latitudes over North America, while it has strengthened about 2% over Asia. The region where the field is at its weakest – the South Atlantic Anomaly – has moved steadily westward and weakened further by about 2%. These changes have occured over the relatively brief period between 1999 and mid-2016.

This is the real cause of global warming. A natural trend that man can do nothing about.

This is why I have so much disdain for the global warming cultists. There are so many factors involved in our environment, they literally have NO IDEA of the interplay between them.

They can’t even tell us if the world is, in fact, even warming, or not.

I actually discussed this with scientists back in the early 1990’s and they thought it was all hogwash.

I explained how the field strength would decrease and why. This dipolar weakening of the earth field is caused by the alignment of the axis of the geographic North Pole and the Magnetic North Pole which represents the axis of the earth’s core.

This alignment creates a decrease in the dynamo effect of the core’s friction with the crust, acting similar to a electric magnet which creates our magnetosphere.

When I discussed this with astrophysicists who specialized in the polarity reversals of planets, they told me that the density of the earth protected us from the shift as the polar reversal that takes place on the sun every 11 years.

The only way to reverse this trend is to raise taxes, redistribute wealth to third-world dictators, drive toy cars, and eat kale.

What people don’t understand is the impact of this decrease in magnetic field strength of the earth upon the human soul which is also a dipolar field.

Yes, and it is easily demonstrated by standing outside on a clear night and searching among the stars for the North Star, Polaris. The North Star is no longer visible from the lower 49 states.

The stars haven’t moved but the north and south poles have definitely wandered. One can no longer see Polaris from the lower forty-nine states because magnetic north is now closer to Siberia. We are below the horizon of visibility.

That's the way the left operates. When you're not getting the desired result for your cause, change the terminology to something that will hopefully be more acceptable. Another example: The left has recently been moving away from the term "Gun Control", replacing it with the term "Gun Safety." (After all, who could be opposed to "safety?")
