Why not let NYC and philly become part of nj?

Yes, all three states would benefit. And while you're at it, rename Philly to be West Camden.

I have to ask... about this article... what’s the point? With all the up-front qualifiers does it make any sense to even ask the question? Oh wait, it’s Philly.com so the writer is going for the pure-fantasy pulitzer.

Actually, one of the best ways to fix the Dem strength would be through tax codes. If the Fedgov budget was funded through the states instead of income taxes, it’d be easy.

- Fedgov passes a budget, with a certain amount of $$ spent.
- That number is then divided by the number of voting reps in Congress. (One of the few benefits of territory/protectorate versus statehood maybe.) So currently, each rep takes home budget/535 in state debt.
- Each state can then raise their share of the budget however they want.

So, if tiny states feel they have too much $$ for how few people they have (since each state has the same number of senators, this skews the bigger percentage share of the budget towards small states), then they can merge with other small states and have less budget responsibility as they lose senators. The NE might turn into four or five states instead of 11.

...Let Maryland deal with the parasites in the same way that Houston Texas had to deal with the leaches of Norleans.

Please, we already have more than our share of parasites!
