Wrong its still a corporation. Inc means Inc. Hes not the owner just a share holder. All the shares being private does not change its still incorporated and the corporation owns it not Trump personally.

I believe Jimmy Carter sold his peanut farm. Caveat — I am a newbie.

Was Jimmy carter forced to sell his peanut farm?

Was Jimmy Carter's peanut farm leased from the US Government?

Trump the leaseholder and Trump the President, as of 1/20/17 can simply agree to modify the lease.

Would you tolerate that sort of malfeasance in office from a democrat?

Didn’t Trump already announce that he would be divesting himself of these types of things?

Yes ... and now we get to the heart of the matter. The demonicRATs are trying to pretend that he didn't, and create the appearance of a conflict of interest where there is none.

Hmmmm... According to the Decemebr 14th letter referenced in the Zero Hedge article, “§37.19 of the lease agreement provides: ‘No member or delegate to Congress, of elected official of the Govenrment of the United States... shall be admitted to any share or part of this lease, or to any benefit that may arise therefrom.’”

I have a copy of a standard GSA lease with respect to another property, and there is an addition clause at the end of the language quoted above that reads as follows: “..., but this provision shall not be construed to extend to the contract of lease if made with a corporation for its general benefit.”

Either the Trump lease does not contain this language, or the tenant is not a corporation (or a partnership, limited partnership, oo limited liability company, whose partners or members are corporation, or someone has selectively quoted the operative paragraph from the lease for political gain.

Was Jimmy carter forced to sell his peanut farm?

Damned right. He probably got hundreds of thousand$ in government subsidies.

Only Dims are entitled to increase their net worth by many million$ while in Office and immediately afterwards...

Where on the lease does documentation exist to support the phony accusation from fake president #44?

Lots of interesting options are open to Trump.

Hmmm.
Trump could just swat the pests aside, and ignore the Magic Negro's suggestion. Should the Dims be stupid enough to "impeach" him as a result, Trump should ignore any further mention of the topic. As should the Patriot-controlled Congress.

Another possibility... Trump should announce that he has reconsidered his presidential salary of $1 and restore the full amount For the sole purpose of keeping the losers in Congress who have a special skill of wasting budget taxpayer money in prodigious amounts busy, rather than dealing with irrelevant Federal agencies, programs, and broken budgets, crony capitalism and RICO prosecution for 25 years of criminal activity.

Prosecuting Hillary and her army of "domestic enemies..." would be a good start. She couldn't leave well enough alone; she should be accommodated.

Personally been hoping that the INVALID SSN of BHO would be grounds for denying him retirement benefits. Could possibly even be grounds for a charge of fraud for drawing a salary as President.

"He wasn't running for president at the time."

Surely they would've/could've looked into it while he was running for Presidency. The grand opening was during his candidacy.

I think I won't worry about it. Trump is smart. I'll leave it to him to figure out. He knows what he's doing. He's amazing!!

The presidency and both houses of congress were never intended to be the exclusive province of professional politicians. Now that we finally have a non-politician as president it is highly unfair to demand he divest himself of all of his business assets. Giving management responsibility to his offspring, along with the proviso, no new deals, is enough to meet any conflict of interest issue. The sore-loser Dems will oppose and hinder Trump at every turn, and impeach him if given the chance. The people should stand behind him so he can fulfill his campaign promises which he shows every indication of honoring to the best of his ability.

Obama obviously has nothing better to do.

Probably sitting in the white hut clipping his toenails and picking his nose.
Finally, found something he's qualified to do and good at.

Did he lease it from the government?

Just go away, loser!

Ever heard of subsidies?
Easier to hide than leases...

"Ever heard of subsidies?"

Does that have something to do with this issue?

So you know, the issue here isn't that Trump might be doing business while President. It's specific to this lease. The claim is that the terms of this lease specify that no elected official can benefit from the deal.

I’m sort of surprised Trump cuts himself in on new deals instead of letting the younger folks in his family take 100%.

Trump is about 70 years old and any profit he makes will probably get estate taxed when he dies since he already has enough money to live his lifestyle.

I believe Trump’s father bowed out of new business around 1970 and let Donald do the deals, probably to avoid losses through the estate tax.

Was Jimmy carter forced to sell his peanut farm?

Supposedly Carter voluntarily placed the farm in a "blind trust" where it was mismanaged and he found himself in debt in 1981. But this arrangement doesn't completely meet the definition of a blind trust since although Carter didn't know how the farm was being managed, he did still know that he owned a peanut farm.

Of course it probably would have been somewhat harder for Carter to benefit the peanut industry than for Trump to get people to stay in his hotel near the White House.
