Ever since his Cheers days John Ratzenberger has been giving speeches and even had his own TV series about American manufacturers. For years he was practically the only guy speaking about bringing manufacturing back. Here is an interview about the election and what it will take to bring back manufacturing.
I never see him on commercials. Maybe John has a cable show.
His financial nest should be pretty well feathered after that show and residuals.
He also has done a show about travelling around and touring American Factories.
He would be good on Trump’s new committee.
Oh yeah, he could not work for the next 10 years and the money keeps coming in. No worries about that here in Hollywood. If your rep is an idiot, you wont see a dime.
Carrier deal was also good for mail carriers. Get it, Kasich?
This whole issue of manufacturing jobs and automation needs to handled on 2 fronts. First, lower taxes and regs and create government/private partnerships to modernize and build out our infrastructure. Second, halt all immigration in all it’s forms, so that the workers that lose by automation, get retrained into the demand jobs that are created.
Nothing will change until we close the door. Morally we have the duty to put our citizens to work first.
Hope he uses him and Mike Rowe.

Ryan is on Hannity now...talking about the $1 trillion in infrastructure spending will be public/private money...not like Obama’s stimulus plan.
A few years ago, Ratzenberger donated several acres of land to a small Russian Orthodox monastery, located on Vashon Island in Puget Sound, southwest of Seattle. I think Ratzenberger lives on the island.
Paired with Mike Rowe. They'd make a good team.
He has also appeared in every film made by Pixar; they consider Ratzenberger their “good luck charm,” and that’s a gig that pays well.
I admire his work—and that of Mike Rowe—on behalf of the skilled trades and manufacturing. To be fair, many of the low-skill manufacturing jobs will never come back. But on any given day, there are between 400-600,000 advanced manufacturing positions that go unfilled, simply because most workers lack the necessary training. You can train someone for one of those jobs in 3-9 months, but many are unaware of these opportunities.
An even bigger problem: the myth that you can only succeed with a college degree. Those unfilled advanced manufacturing jobs start off at $40-45K a year, plus overtime and full benefits. Many skilled trade positions pay even more, especially after a few years on the job.
Unfortunately, most young people—and their parents—would rather go deeply in debt for a worthless degree that gets them a job at Starbucks.
I’m glad to hear that Ratzenberger was wise enough to invest his earnings after careful consideration.
And that he has made a place for himself in Voice Overs.
Most people used to believe that ‘you could not suceed’ without a College Degree! My family certainly believed that, and undertook many sacrifices to help me afford what my scholarship didn’t pay for. Those were some of the best years of my adult life. However, I now know, college is not truly a necessity. No regrets though. At least I had the experience and met all those interesting people. It was worth doing.
John was born in Bridgeport Connecticut, so I guess he saw all the factories that made products for America like Jenkins Valves, Carpenter Steel, Bridgeport Machine, Singer Sewing Machine, Warner Corset, Fresbee Pies and others. All long gone...
