SALEM, Ore. - Seaborne radiation from Japan’s Fukushima nuclear disaster has been detected on Oregon shores, researchers say.
Seawater samples from Tillamook Bay and Gold Beach indicate radiation from the nuclear disaster but at extremely low levels not harmful to humans or the environment.
Citing the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the Statesman Journal newspaper reports the samples were taken last winter and later analyzed

I believe there was one coho salmon tested. Measured 1/100,000th of unacceptable level.

Gosh. Let’s decomission all the nuclear reactors at the same time we eliminate all fossil fuels and eliminate wood burning. If that went to the voters in Oregon, it would win hands down.
This will make the salmon even bigger!

As though they can tell the radiation from Hanford coming down the Columbia River and into the Pacific from Fukushima.
They actually might be able to tell the difference. One would be bigger and have a different signature.

Actually, there is a theory to that effect called radiation hormesis. From the first paragraph of the Wikipedia entry...
Radiation hormesis (also called radiation homeostasis) is the hypothesis that low doses of ionizing radiation (within the region of and just above natural background levels) are beneficial, stimulating the activation of repair mechanisms that protect against disease, that are not activated in absence of ionizing radiation.

You probably get a larger dose of radiation from standing next to a granite office building than you would from that salmon.
